Is it because you supposedly buying a OS that gets no viruses? Isn’t cheaper to buy an anti virus on windows? I use windows for years and I only have minor issues. My friends are pushing me to get a Mac but I need a really good reason if I have to spend over 00 on a laptop. Is there something extraordinary Macs can do that windows can’t?

macs are over priced because they are marketed to people who don’t know anything about computers and are paying for it. macs don’t get viruses because people who make viruses don’t care enough about mac users when there are more windows users. and there are free windows anit-virus programs and in all my years of using windows have never had a virus.

Macs do get vruses, their was one in the wild a couple weeks ago. Go for Linux, i recommend either SUSE Desktop enterprise from Novell ‘N’ or openSUSE!

Not really, I was also thinking of buying a mac but they are over priced. Yep macs get no viruses and they just look great. Yes it is much cheaper to get a windows with anti-viruses and if your not worried bout looks i suggest a windows laptop. Because your just paying alot for macs and getting very little.

No there are things a Mac does better. But extraordinary not at all. By the way there are also plenty of things a Windows OS does better than a Mac. Mac’s don’t get infected like a Windows OS But that’s only because there isn’t much malware written for Mac due to the fact that most computers are Windows OS. Over 90% If you spend a little time learning how to protect your Windows OS you won’t get infected. I’m over 2 years without anything getting on my computer.

Over $2000? So you’re getting a MacBook Pro? You can get a MacBook for a little over $1000. And yes, the OS gets no viruses. Look at it this way: Windows with an antivirus program is like getting a cut and putting a bandaid on it. Mac OSX is like avoiding the cut entirely. Wouldn’t it be nice NOT to have to worry if your antivirus definitions are up to date? Also, the latest Macs have what is called an aluminum unibody – much more durable than plastic that the other laptops are made of.

The real advantage is when it comes time to upgrade the OS. Can you upgrade a Windows 95 capable machine to Windows XP (or Windows Vista)? Not without serious memory and hard drive upgrades, but it would be better to get a new Windows PC instead of upgrading. With Mac, you can upgrade the first Macs that ran OSX to the latest version without any issue; you can even run the latest version of OSX on some of the legacy Macs. So once you get the Mac it won’t become obsolete like the Windows computer will.

Why are you being swayed by your friends? Spend your money the way you want and buy what pleases you.

Don’t buy a system because it makes them happy, buy because it makes you happy. Bottom line; You are the one who has to use it every day.
