I need to buy anti virus software to protect my computer. Which is the best anti virus software out there? I was thinking mcafee or norton? I heard that norton creates problems with the workings of a computer. Please help.

Neither McAfeee or Norton are good. They will both make your computer almost unusable. I have been pretty happy with AVG (use the Free version at home and the paid Network edition at work).

i recommend Norton Anti-virus, Their virus scans really work and they are modern and updated, please don’t use mcafee as it is very old and not very effective

I personally think that McAfee is the best.
Every month, (for free, I believe) McAfee has about a 5-minute virus scan on your computer. If it finds any mysterious software or viruses that could harm your computer, it asks you if you would like to delete them.
McAfee only costs about 25-100 dollars, a year.

    McAfee and Norton SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best are free, get Avira Antvir anti virus and MalwareBytes for spyware. They are better than what other people are going to say here, like Avast and AVG which are okay but do not detect or easily remove all kinds of trojans.

Do not buy antivirus software, it’s a waste of money!

avg is free, but you have to do some manual work. It all depends in your free time

just in my opinion, i cannot really tell if there’s such thing as the "best" antivirus, coz each brands creates a virus that the other anti virus/competitor cannot detect…
just stick to the known/reputable ones like the ones u mentioned, though i choose mcafee, and i think kaspersky, symantec and avast are ok, too, though

I have used Zone Alarm Firewall, I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I have just changed to Avast antivirus and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

BitDefender and Mcafee are the best paid software. Norton isn’t all that great. Avast home addition is really good and it’s free. I prefer Avast the most but it does not warn you as well as other programs but it takes up virtually no CPU space. Mcafee is the best if you want to stay safe and virus free.
