Anti-Virus programs suck. They slow down your computer like crazy, then you just think you must have a virus because it’s so slow. Get rid of them all!

Use Ad-Aware, freeware version, by Lavasoft. If you do in fact have a virus, find a computer savvy friend and ask them to remove it for you. Or you can find and download hijack this, run it and post a log report of your processes somewhere. People can then tell you if they see a virus and walk you through removing it.

People are thumbs-downing me, but I’m serious. Anti-Virus software screws up your computer. If you use basic common sense (like not running mysterious exe files) then you can protect yourself from viruses. So, you need to clean up your computer, remove your anti-virus software and avoid doing stupid stuff online.

    Anti-Virus software is BS!

You are infected with spyware if:

    * You see too much pop-up advertisements.
    * Your browser has toolbars that you haven’t installed.
    * Your homepage has changed (and you can’t change it back).
    * Other settings have changed without your permission.
    * Your computer is slow.

To get rid of spyware and keep your computer clean you can use an antispyware or even more.
You can download a antispyware software. There are 10 good anti-spywares.
    here is the reviews:http://toptenantispyware.com/

You can download one and scan your system.
All are safe and can be trusted.

AVG 8.0 Professional Edition is by far the leading anti-virus software. It has never let me down and the makers of it also offer a free version which you can use and is very helpful. It dramatically lowers the risks of being infected with any type of virus.

A very good, free AV available to download is AVG 8 Anti-virus:
    http://www.free.grisoft.com

And for any spyware problems, get SpyBot – Search and Destroy:
    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

Both are free, as powerful as paid programs, like Norton and McAfee, and don’t use up as many resources.

Just boot into Safe Mode (Press F8 when turning on the computer) and run full scans.

    Good Luck.

You could ask this question 100 times and get 100 answers, all different. It varies depending on need.

For home use, AVG and Avast are available without charge and are pretty good. You could also try the Google Pack which is also free and includes a Norton Anti-virus program.

However, these are just anti-virus programs, no spam filters, no anti-spyware etc. This means they don’t use too much by the way of resource and so don’t slow your PC.

Trend Micro offer a free online scanner which is great becasue a number of viruses and trojans are able to disable some AV programs. Perhaps scan with Trend first, before installing your own application.

You then should consider using some anti spyware software such as SpyBot Searcn and Destroy and Lavasoft’s Adaware, both of which are free.
