I am looking at new laptops and was considering buying an antivirus system, but it would be nice if i could get a good one for free. What are some good ones and possibly what not to get. I am talking about FREE downloads off the internet that will protect my computer. Thanks so much. :)

I’d be careful with this one. I’m pretty knowledgeable about computers and such, but once I downloaded what appeared to be an anti-virus and ended up getting a Trojan virus instead; it took forever to get rid of it, it was a mess.

AVG is by far the best program out there, and it’s really not that expensive.. you might even get a free download, I don’t remember.

By the way, buy warranties.. always. In the three years I’ve had my Dell laptop, I’ve gotten a new CD drive, a new screen, a new hard drive (crashed from a virus), three new motherboards, and three new power cords. So basically, I’ve gotten a whole new computer, plus some. All covered, minus the power cords.

I have an iMac and Mac book laptop and neither get any viruses.
95% of viruses on the web are aimed at Microsoft pc’s and so it is extremely rare that a mac gets one.
I watch movies and download stuff all the time and have had no problems in over 6 years.
    Trust me it’s heaven.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DOWNLOADING FREE ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE…
People these days have downloaded free software that are really Viruses in disguise.. Your best bet if you want a FREE download, use Norton free trials, or any other well known software. They always have free trials for consumers, and before it nearly expires, download another one..
