I have a Mac Afee and the free trial goes to the 6th. it isn’t really worth the money any suggestions? A moderate price will be ok but I don’t want to pay to log in everytime I use it.
A moderate cost. I have used AVG and it gave me a head ache.

You don’t always get what you pay for. Free ones are just as good trust me.

Get MacAfee off your computer and install AVG for anti-virus and Super Antispyware for spyware.

You should try AVG Anti-Virus. Its a free anti-virus that actually works really well and is easy to use. It also has a pro version i think which costs money but the free version is good enough! Its a powerful tool and i recommend it to you!

norton… love my norton… You would have to delete the macafee becaus it sees norton as a virus.

macafee likes to treat other virus programs as viruses and tries to delet them… best to make sure it is gone before you load a differnt program.

Stop it before it gets in your computer with a Barracuda appliance that sits after the firewall.

Try AVG, Avast, or Avira. They are all excellent and free.

AVG antivirus is the best, most efficient and lightweight anti-virus app. It’s free for the basic version.
A great spyware removal app is Spybot Search & Destroy, which once again is free.

Try AVG , it’s free, and ten the more advanced packages are reatively inexpensie also. And it works really well too, It rivals many of the more expensive programs, even the free one. So I would check it out, works great for me. Another one is superantivirus and superantispyware, also free.

I used to be a big fan of TrendMicro Internet Security 2007 … but I do not like the 2008 version anywhere near as much – $50.

There are a few "Free" AntiVirus packages out there – such as AVG. Free vs paid is always a balance of the "You get what you pay for" logic – but there are definitely some good free applications out there.

    Two approaches to this;
    1) Use software and common sense so you never get infected.
    2) Get infected but rely on programs to immediately detect and fix your infection.

One package / method that I found recently was actually more of a firewall with an "allowed running processes" feature – from Comodo. (Comodo Personal Firewall Pro – for free).

The way this works is that Comodo will attempt to only allow the programs to run that you specifically allowed. If a new program is detected, you are prompted to allow or deny.
(TrendMicro and a few other packages have had this feature for a while)

However, note that this method assumes you won’t click "allow" on the wrong thing, and let a virus install itself.

SuperAntiSpyware has a decent free application too.
