get spybot search & destroy (free)
and adaware (free)
I use E-Trust antivirus (and love it) but it’s about 30 bucks
I can’t recommend a ‘free’ anti-virus, but those other two will get you started in the right direction.

Sometimes pop ups that say your infected ARE the virus so try running a virus scan at

get spy ware from best buy or sumthing like that….i just got one from there and most of the spy ware is from my space, so b careful

Your computer likely had a Smitfraud infection. Any "warnings" were fradulant and a scam.

The standard tool to remove this pest is SmitfraudFix. The full removal procedure and the free removal tool is here:

AdAware is not very effective with Smitfraud infections.

i used to get popups and it slowed my computer down real bad. Now with these 4 free programs from download.com, i’ve never had a problem

1. Avast Antivirus
2. Comodo Firewall
3. Spybot
4. Spyware Terminator

Install them all, and they work flawlessly in harmony. my computer is clean
