PC service technicians often advertise computer tune-ups and virus removal services to their clients, but what software is used for that? Is it legal to use the software in that manner? Or do they just use free software utilities?
How about effective tune-up utilities?

I am a computer Tech and if the owner of the computer does not have anti virus and does not want to pay for it I download Microsoft Security Essentials the BEST FREE Anti Virus and it’s from Windows?Microsoft
freeware software utilities for removing viruses are very good for removing malware and I have personally seen and found malwarebytes installed after having my pc serviced last year, which is a freebie. Since this occured I have kept the program and with a little more investigation have included, Avast home edition and Superantispyware to help in keeping my pc clean. I have not needed to service my pc as yet.
There are many software designed to be free, so it’s of course legal. For virus removal you could try avast! & AVG, Both freeware.
For tune-up, use ccleaner or Tuneup utilities(not free but good)
