I bought a laptop around four months ago and over the past week it has had 100% CPU usage, does anyone know how i can fix this?

Ive done virus scans and used CCleaner but none of this is working and its starting to really annoy me!!

If anyone can help then thanks!
Ron T - i did what you said with the malwarebytes thing and it said have 2 infected files - Adware.BHO and Adware.Videoegg ?? i have no idea what these are or if i need them or anything so what do i do now?

so i went and bought virus/spyware protection and downloaded it and run virus scans on my computer everyday or every other day. but almost every time i go to a website, i still web pages popping up advertising some random thing, even with pop-up blocker. also random times my computer screen will go blank except for my background on my desktop, icons and all so i will have to restart my computer……all i know to do was get virus protection from best buy so im not sure if there is still somethin wrong or not.

Well when I got this computer, it came with a 90 day trial of Norton Internet Security+Anti-Virus, and after it expired I got Norton 360 All-In-One. I had to uninstall the old Norton to install the new one, so I did. Then when i turned on my computer at the task tray (or whatever it’s called, the icons at the bottom right.) There was a flashing red circle w/ a X in the middle and it said "System Alert". My background was overlapped by a big red toxic sign and under that "YOUR PRIVACY IS IN DANGER!". A lot of pop-ups kept coming up saying "System Alert" "Worm was detected on your computer, click yes to delete this worm now.", "Windows Security Alert" "Windows has detected an Internet attack attempt… Somebody’s trying to infect your PC with spyware or harmful viruses. Run full system scan now to protect your PC from Internet attacks, hijacking attempts and spyware! Click here to download spyware remover for total protection.", and when I open up Internet Explorer, the home page is an ad telling me to buy a spyware remover. Even when I change the homepage, it changes back whenever I open Internet Explorer. I installed Norton 360 All-In-One and ran virus scans and things, but they didn’t detect anything. Should I get a different anti-virus program? Thanks for the help =]

Now, however, it takes ages to log on, and takes about 15 minutes to hibernate and resume. Here are the specs:
Centrino 2, P8400, 2.26GHZ
250GB harddrive
2GB 800 mhz ram
1066 Front side bus
3 mb L2 Cache
I have installed Avira anti-virus, Threatfire, advanced system care, and Smart Defrag. I optimize, defrag, and run virus scans on my computer every week, so it cannot be a virus. Any help will be greatly appreciated
Additional notes: It came originally with Windows Vista Home Premium, however, i have now made it dual boot with windows XP. When i first installed XP, it hibernated in about a minute. After around 3 months, it takes ages to hibernate, login, and resume. Sometimes it even freezes as it is logging in :( I have also used less than half of my harddrive space on both of my partitions
