would buying Virus Protection example Norton Anti-Virus be cost effective, or is there equivalently good Virus Protections available online for free? and if so what is the link 
Hi I’m going to be buying a dell inspiron laptop and i was just wondering what a good firewall spy ware and virus protection would be a good one to purchase that would give full protection so my computer doesn’t get ruined I’m not to picky about price i would rather pay for something and have it work than having to buy a hole new laptop! please help

I have got a new laptop and I’m going to buy a virus protection but it’ll maybe take a month. I have currently got Avg antivirus protection but it doens’t seem that good and I hear it’s crap, is there any other virus protection that I can use until I buy one?

my spyware virus protection from norton360 ended today and ever since then i have been getting these pop-ups asking me to buy spyware, when i click no thanks becaus emy comp is already secure it keeps popping up like now…it has a screen that read MS SPYWARE 2009..it won’t go away and it pops up every two mintues or so…what can I do to stop it? anything i need to uninstall? please help this is very annoying!
So I am doing like a master reset to my laptop and I don’t want to have to buy new virus protection because the stuff I have now doesn’t expire for a while. Is it possible to transfer the virus protection using a flash drive, or will I just have to purchase it again?

What’s a better way to start from scratch on an old used laptop? Should I pay a repair tech. to wipe out my system or should I buy a new hard drive? We suspect the drive is going bad. I just want a completely empty computer so that I can install brand new windows and virus protection. It’s a Latitude CPi.
I bought a used laptop that didn’t have any virus protection, and I looked online to try to find something which was free. The software did the exact opposite of what it was intended for. Plus, I’ve used the restore option like 5 times in two days. I tried loading Mc Afee Suite but my computer just freeze up. I’m not a computer whiz, so if they can be stated in caveman terms i will be much obliged.

I got this virus and when I thought I was downloading a virus protection system I got that…except it wasnt protectection. I really need to figure out how to get rid of this because SuperAntiSpyware hasnt even gotten rid of it.
It keeps opening a page that wants me to scan. If I click yes it wants to sell me spyware or virus protection. Norton stops it and the page comes up blank.I checked the description and Norton calls it a fake page. Does that ring any bells. I appreciate your answers guys. Maybe that is a little more clear. I accidentally dowloaded a virus protection but i already have one and i think the new one i dowloaded is a virus it’s self because my other one is not detecting anything when the other one is does any one know a way to remove the new virus protector.

I have a network at work. 2 computers are shared via the Linksys. Both of the computers are wireless. The Microsoft Office 2007 software has been installed on both.
