so one of those geek squad guys at best buy told me that if i want the best anti-virus program, i have to get one from a company known for anti-virus programs and the best anti-spyware would be a different company who specialize just in that. basically, there’s no one brand i could buy, that could do both and match the two separate programs in quality. is this true? or was this guy just trying to sell me an extra program when one could do both and be is just as good? i don’t know if it matters but he recommended web root (spyware) and trend (anti-virus).
Hey, i believe i have a virus or spyware in my computer. When i browse the web with Firefox, chrome or opera i type in a website and occasionally it leads to me to a totally different site unrelated to what i wanted. This occurs with all three web browsers. I have a virus program and it claims my computer is cleaned. Any help to remove this virus? Thx in advance.

I bought my son a cd software that is an anti-virus program. Can he install it on his computer, and then I take the same cd and install it on my computer? or is it a 1 computer thing?
Well so the other day my computer got infected, and I had to go out and but a brand new anti-virus program for it……mine was too old….so i bought Panda Antivirus Pro 2009 at Staples for about sounded like a good deal, and Panda has been around for long soo i thought it would work.I bought a 3pc license, and installed it on my lapto, and found i had lots of spy ware, malware 3 backdoor Trojans…… so on.But then this add ware program that is stuck on my task bar says i have spyware and that if i click on the icon, itll help me get rid of that, of couse for a hefty …. but i got the same F****** add ware on my desktop and i had to erase all data,because that was actually another virus.After i bought panda my friend lended me another antivirus, but i dont remember its name.It worked betterthan panda, bu there still addawre.My friend is mailing my a Norton Anti-Virus 360 with a corporate license but i dont know if thatll do the trick, and i use my laptop to pay the bills and have lots of important info and they might steal my identity!!!!!!! aaaaahhh!!!! and i have to pay some bills that are only online, but i dont want to try any of my other computers because its too risky.So Any Anti Virus expert out there, I need help, i need any anti virus program thatll kick the F****** S*** out of that F****** Virus S***.Please i desperately need your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have spyware doctor, and i erased the little thing in my task bar, but i still have another problem which is that if i got to sites, like yahoo, hotmail, google,espn , etc., and i have pop up blocker on, but things like down load anti virus whatever, or your computer has spyware, dowload this, download that, and that really annoys me, and i dont know how to get that out, i need hhheeeellllpppp!!!!!!!

Earlier today, my laptop got a virus. It made it so that nothing worked, and an Antivirus program has appeared that promises to fix it after I buy the full version for a lot of money. Obviously this is a virus, but I can’t fix it! It won’t let me download anything that can stop it, as it blocks my internet. And in safemode, and even networking safemode, I can’t seem to get internet either. I currently have it shut down and am using my families main computer, but I would definitely like to use my laptop again.
Two things you should know: I tried to use a flashdrive to download an anti-virus program, but it wouldn’t install. It said there was an error and couldn’t continue.
Also, I have looked for the Antivirus 2008 or 2009 file in Program Files, but it isn’t there.
I have tried all the methods that people have given for similar questions, and nothing is working. Please help! And, as I’m not very computer smart, I would appreciate it if you specified what modes I have to do things in (Safemode, normal, Networking Safemode, etc).

Well, I’ve now manage to download malewarebytes, and after a scan in SafeMode the virus still exists. Also, I feel I should add that in Normal Mode. Task Manager also does not work.
The virus seems to call itself "SWP2009". It also calls itself Antivirus System Pro.

Ok so a friend of my b/f was staying with us and I let him use my laptop at nite when I went to bed but soon stopped letting him when I found out he was watching porn on it. But it was too late. Well when I got this computer, it came with a 90 day trial of Norton Internet Security+Anti-Virus, and after it expired I got Norton 360 All-In-One. I had to uninstall the old Norton to install the new one, so I did. Then when i turned on my computer at the task tray (or whatever it’s called, the icons at the bottom right.) There was a flashing red circle w/ a X in the middle and it said "System Alert". My background was overlapped by a big red toxic sign and under that "YOUR PRIVACY IS IN DANGER!". A lot of pop-ups kept coming up saying "System Alert" "Worm was detected on your computer, click yes to delete this worm now.", "Windows Security Alert" "Windows has detected an Internet attack attempt… Somebody’s trying to infect your PC with spyware or harmful viruses. Run full system scan now to protect your PC from Internet attacks, hijacking attempts and spyware! Click here to download spyware remover for total protection.", and when I open up Internet Explorer, the home page is an ad telling me to buy a spyware remover. Even when I change the homepage, it changes back whenever I open Internet Explorer. I installed Norton 360 All-In-One and ran virus scans and things, but they didn’t detect anything. I have a nasty virus from a fake anti-virus called Antivirus 360. It randomly restarts my computer and prompts me to pay for the full version. I found some info online about it and it says to get Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware, which I already have, but when I attempt to scan, AV360 shuts it down. I found another anti-virus online called Malware Removal Bot. I was able to scan with that and it detected the AV360, but of course it prompted me to pay for it if I want the virus removed, and I’m trying to avoid paying for another anti-virus program. My kid’s laptop(that I bought used from a pawn) a dell insprion or something like that, keeps restarting over and over again before it loads windows. I tried to go to safe mode and system restore but it doesn’t work.

I just bought a new laptop and it came pre loaded with norton security demo version and windows vista, a couple days later, my computer started acting really funny and then said my computer said windows defender has detected spyware , do i want to clean my system, i said no in case it was the virus or spyware trying to infect my system so i tried to run scan via an online scanner from mcafee, it downloaded the software but then told it encountered an error and cant carry on, the same thing happened on other anti virus sites so i’m now sure i have a virus on my computer and was wondering if i unistall norton security as its only a trial version and bought a anti virus program will it fix it or not

I have a free program installed on my computer to search for all the spyware and I want a program that will remove it and I also want a program to protect my computer. Would it be safe to install a program to remove my spyware if I already have spyware on my computer? If not, what should I do to get rid of it that I can do at home? I had my laptop connected to the internet while my desk top was being worked on and now that I have disconnected my laptop I can’t do anything on it. While it was connected my aunt tried to install an anti-virus program on it but now I can’t even remove it from my computer. It won’t even let me go to the add/remove program thing on the control panel.
