I have a problem with my computer, there’s a file I found in the folder of MY DOCUMENTS, it’s "SPIDER.SAV". I think it’s a virus, coz i try to delete this, but after rebooting my system, it was still there, I have tried many Anti-Virus, but they didn’t detect it as a virus. can someone from the group knows how to remove this.
i have been renting to own a pc laptop and i hate it! if i finished buying it (because i have put WAY to much into it now!) and then sold it and bought a different one, which should i get…
i really love the macbook, but i have heard they are hard to get use to is this true, should i just try another laptop…
i have an hp pavillion dv7 now, i use to have a dell and i like the hp better but i keep getting viruses and stuff messing up or slowing down my computer, i am SO tired of it! i really love the idea of a macbook but i know that it is not easy to find some programs for the mac…
if you are a mac user, do you like it? is it easy for you to find programs? is it more expensive for those programs? and also how long did it take for you to get use to the interface?
anything else i need to know???
haha i know…i am not looking to do this until i find a job (which may be a while) but i am a very ocd person, i have to plan and plan months in advance!
i just finished with school and that cost me ,000 so i wasn’t able to afford anything expensive…
i know the mac does get viruses but not hardly as many as a pc does, and so far i ahve really disliked windows, and the macs i have used i love!
i want something that will be good for traveling, i really enjoy traveling and i plan on doing it more once i get a job. but a 17", 8 pound laptop is not really ideal for traveling with it! idk maybe i will just buy and ipad–you know the new one, and keep my klunker!
As a young adolescent we all know we kind of do things and go on stuff we really shouldn’t go on. But we do anyways, to fulfill our "needs" if you know what I mean.
Anyways, thank God I use my very own computer and it is not shared, because tonight I got soooo much spyware and a bunch of other crap (viruses, malicious stuff) from sites that I do not want my parents to find. How can I remove this stuff (free of charge) completely so that it is not found? And also get rid of whatever is in my browser like Trojans and all that.
I use AVG Free and Ad Aware 2007 right now and AdAware removed like 133 traces, AVG just found one (scanning now.)
Thanks guys!
(I know I shouldn’t be on porn but it is very common among like every guy I know in my age range.)
Oh and how can I prevent spyware etc. from entering my system?
AVG ALWAYS tells me if there is a threat detected and it will remove it under my command.
I bought a laptop with McAfee virus protection already on it. I have had the laptop for a couple of years now and have not continued this virus protection. I was using Avast virus protection (free online download) for awhile, until I got a virus and ended up buying Webroot to get rid of the virus. The virus is now gone but whenever I turn my laptop on, McAfee always pops up and says that part of it is incomplete. It is annoying because it keeps popping up about every 2 minutes. I tried to go into add/remove programs and remove McAfee but it will not allow me. I click on the "remove" box, the hourglass thing appears for a second but nothing happens. Any help on removing the program would be appreciated. I no longer need it since I have Webroot Anti virus.
Hello to all,
I am having a dilemma right now. My folks PC in Washington has contracted a Kavo Trojan. I am currently in the process of trying to remove this virus, however it keep coming back. Not surprisingly.
I am in CA right now using logmein(remote desktop) in an attempt to remove this virus/spyware. The virus was first detected by McAfee Antivirus .
I have perform the following:
1. Spyware Search & Destroy 1.4 w/ latest build
2. McAfee Antivirus w/ latest build
3. Lavasoft Adware Removal 1.06 Build w/ latest Update
Even attempted to look for kavo.exe and kavo0.dll files. Apparently, these files will keep spawning if deleted (McAfee deleted). I have disable the startup service kavo.exe in msconfig. However, I get a pop-up error message. Does anyone know of any method or tools that I can use to remove this virus/spyware. Please keep in mind that I am doing this remotely. I am instructing my folks on the phone. I have already scan my computer w/ McAfee in safe mode.
Thank you all for responding.
SOLUTION:
To remove kavo.exe (aka ntdelect.com, TROJ_NSPM.ADB, and TROJ_NSPM.ABT)
Please perform the following:
1. Go to Trend Micro- http://housecall.trendmicro.com/…
and use their housecall scan/removal
2. Go to Registry Edit aka regedit and
search for
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\kavo.exe"
with the value of kavo
Please note the location of the kavo may vary depending on the type of variant you have. The general information insist that it is in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\”kava” = “%System%\kavo.exe”
I am working on removing all left over "residule" from the virus. As of right now McAfee wasn’t able to detect this virus (i.e. kavo0.dll, kavo.exe in any of my drives)

I have read questions regarding virus removal but I am posting my issue so I can give details and get the correct help. I had McAfee installed when this happened. My computer started getting strange error messages at start up such as Error loading c:\windows\system32\calc.dll the specified module could not be found. Also when I Google something then click on a link I get redirected to some other page that has nothing to do with what I clicked. Now when I shut the computer off and turn it back on everything on my desktop is gone except for the tray at the bottom which keeps showing a bubble telling me to open the security center and when I click that icon in the tray it proceeds to scan the pc, tells me I have 40 known threats and gives me the option to remove them or proceed unprotected when I click remove it shows me a screen where I have to pay. When I use my mcafee to scan the system it says there are no known threats. I also have been receiving popups for what claims to be a "make money with google" site and my popup blocker is on and I haven’t received a popup in years. Does any one have any idea what is going on and what I can do. Also I don’t hav the Windows XP disc because my pc had it already installed when I purchased it.
When I reboot the pc so I can start in safe mode I get a blue screen message whenever I chose safe mode. It says a problem has been detected and the computer is shutting down. The reason I came here to get help to do it on my own is because I’m not able to take it to someone to pay for it getting fixed. So I reeally appreciate evryones help.
I went to the help forums suggested by Sly_Old… and MrGrump and was not able to download the programs that I need to start the halp process because it says my security settings won’t allow me to download it. What could be causing that I have not changed any internet security settings and even when I check everythings the same as I left it. I don’t know what else to do I’m getting kinda discouraged.
I just bought an iMac and am worried about this. Would I need to buy extra protection?
In answer to the "I bet you’re stoked" comment about buying an iMac . . . I am! Oh happy days!!
I followed the "How to Remove Hacked by godzilla virus in 5 minutes" and yet cannot change the Folder option from "hide files" to not to. Everything else worked, no more title, no more process in task menager and no more files at HKEY. Any advise?
I’ve searched through forums but still can’t decide on which laptop to buy, so your answers are appreciated.
I’m in college taking engineering and I got 2 more years before graduation. I have an acer laptop but it now has a crack so I want to buy a new one.
I’m considering a Lenovo because of its durability but I don’t like vista that’s why I’m considering a macbook because of its simplicity. The price of the 13" macbook is within my budget but I’m concerned that hardware or software upgrade would be expensive.
I’m thinking, I’d go for the Lenovo then I’ll buy myself a macbook after I get a job. But it would be impractical, and I would like to, as much as possible, stick with one laptop.
My main priority is durability, least maintainance then OS. I am using the laptop mainly for internet, watching movies and document processing.
So what should I get, a lenovo or macbook?
By the way, I have no issues with viruses with my acer. I rarely get any. Thanks.
Aside from durability and maintenance, my priorities would also include portability and battery length.
If I’d get a mac, would I be able to run MatLab and C Programming Language easily and hassle free? Thank you!
So far I have scanned with Adaware, Spybot search and destroy and Mcafee virus scan.
Mcafee keeps popping up this message saying it found a file "byxywwu.dll" a trojan Vunda and it can not be cleaned.
Well, I can not figure out a way of deleting this file.
These popups keep coming up saying I have "spyware or virus" and trying to direct me to a site to by their crap to remove it. I know that is a scam
Please someone help me, how in the **** can I get this off my computer.
I’m just amazed that Mcafee can not remove it.
Well first off we have had this old computer maybe since i don’t know 2001 and its a nice one.. its a Windows Xp made in 2000. Well we needed to have an anti virus software on the computer, so we decided to get Webroot and it’s a really good virus protector. But the problem is we bought "Webroot Spysweeper AntiVirus" And so we had installed it, and now about two months later we realize after amost 12 scans that it hasent been sweeping for viruses. So we relize that it would not let us click the option to scan for viruses or any of the enableing, Do you have to add anti virus to the subsciption? Is this software supposed to come with antivirus protection, or do you have to subscribe because we have gone to the page wear it asks you what you want to buy, so it says it is 10 dollars but I still want to know?
I know that but we bought it from best buy for 40$
Everytime i get on the internet i get a pop-up that says something like "warning your computer is infected..please click ok for a free online scan". I also get tons of other pop-ups. I’ve downloaded numerous software & tried all kinds of scans but none of them are completely getting rid of the virus. Some of the scans I run always find something called a trojan.agent & trojan virtimode….whatever they are…but they never delete them. Please help!
I need to install anti virus software. Before I buy anything I need to know what it is I already have that came installed on my Acer 3680 laptop.
At the very bottom of my desk top there is a little icon in the shape of a red shield. When I open this there are 4 items. Firewall, automatic updating, other security settings and malware protection. All are on except the malware protection. This is off and when I want to turn it on it says no virus protection software found and prompts me to find software. There I need to purchase anti virus protection package.
Now my main question is all that I have explained above, is this a partial package that I need to uninstall before I install new software?
I know that you can’t run two together or it will cause conflicts with the PC.
I tried to run Anti Virus 2009 that I paid 79.00 but it for some reason vanished from my PC. The Icon is there but when I try to open it I get a message
"can’t find program, it has been changed or moved".
With frustration I contacted the software manufacture for support and they were of no assistance to me what so ever. So I requested a refund which they willingly obliged.
Now I am at square one and need help. I am not a computer guru so please explain in layman’s terms.
Hope someone can offer help. Thanks……….Andre
use the internet service/set up an e-mail address with the main provider? I recently purchased a new computer (an inexpensive eMachine). The computer seems to have internet service through Google which I don’t really use and I have not set up an e-mail account with Google. I do have e-mail with Yahoo and through Comcast Cablevision which is my major provider/the one I am paying for. Both Comcast and Yahoo already have spyware/virus protection with their service. If I don’t set up an e-mail address through the Google account, do I need to install the "temporarily" free antivirus software (or go buy it elsewhere) that the computer keeps prompting me to do?
I have the "Packed.Generic.214" virus on my PC. Norton recognizes it’s there, but cannot fix, quarantine, or delete it. TrendMicro Housecall did not detect it at all. My PC will not start in safe mode to do a virus scan.
Any suggestions on a program to use or method of removing my virus short of a system restore?
Good idea, but the virus has slowed my system so badly I’m having trouble running Hijack This.
Well, let’s get it to the point, no spammage crap please.
Dell Latitude C610
processor is a Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) III CPI - M 1000MHz
512 mb of ram
windows xp professional
i have tried anti virus, disk cleanup, cleaning registry, and my laptop still runs slow, it’s pretty old.
what should i do?
i use my laptop to play games such as "GunZ:The Duel" should i just end up selling the laptop and buy a newer one, or get more RAM for my current laptop?
my laptop is dell 640m. i bought it from saudi arabia. the "s" key appears once in a while and it really hampers my work. it can fill an entire page when im using MS word. is this caused by some kind of virus? it also produces a crackling sound inside my computer.
Looking for one that will find & also, remove what ever it find’s, without having to buy the thing 1st. Or, a 30 day free trial one, to find out "if", it work’s or not–lol. Thank you so much, Dave
I just got this laptop about a week ago. Im curious as to how good it is based on my needs. Right now it blazingly fast even after anti-virus and all those annoying auto-updates and programs that run in the background
Specs
HP HDx 18
1920 x 1080p full res 18" screen
2.66 intel core 2 duo processor
6 gb ddr3 memory
1 gb nvidia 130 m graphics card
640 raid 0 (7200 rpm hard drive)
intel next gen wirless with bluetooh
blu-ray with light scribe and supermulti
i basically use it to run office word/spreadsheet/powerpoint. browse the internet. watch tons of video files (youtube, divx, movies, megashare). i sometimes use photoshop along with other adobe files but rarely. also the laptop remains completley stationary on my desk the whole time, i rarely ever travel with it (like never) but want the mobility option.
when i bought it i only paid 1400 for it after taxes due to coupon codes i had and i dont play games, never have never will
It’s my opinion that these programs are scams perpetrated by the senders of the infections; ie "i’ve infected your computer and the only way to get rid of it is to buy my anti-software" What’s up?
I have a virus on my computer called "Trojan.Brisv.A!inf"
And my Internet security says it requires manual removal. How do I manual Remove it?
And it says the risk is high. What could happen to my computer?
I haven’t noticed any problems yet…but what are the risks? And what should I do?
There is no "Recycler" folder found on either of the drives, and yet when I double click on either of them, I get an error message. Any suggestions? I really want to avoid formatting them, as I would lose all of my stuff
I have Norton Antivirus and it’s not detecting a virus, double clicking my drives brings up an error message. I’m not sure what to do.
I’m looking at a used 17" imac on ebay…here’s the link…

I’m a design student and on a budget. I really like macs and I use them all the time a school. This computer has all of the software I’ll need and it looks like it could be a really great buy. I’m just not sure I want to sacrifice the mobility of a laptop for a desktop. Plus, there is no warranty.
The HP PC I’m looking at is really nice. It’s ,000 and would be able to do what I want it to, but I would have to purchase the Adobe Creative Suite (which won’t be too bad since I can get it for 0 with the student discount). Also, I really don’t want to deal with viruses. My Toshiba got hit this past March and I had to completely wipe the hard drive and re-install xp to even get things up and running again.
Here’s the link to the HP:

What would you do? I’m not sure. Thanks for your input.
This pop-up infiltrated my pc from a porn site and I cannot find anyway to get rid of it. I’ve done a disk clean-up and a search through the "Add or Remove Programs" list and device manager list with no postive results. It is bugging the @#$%^ out of me! My TrendMicroPC-Cillin anti_virus/anti-adware software does not detect it.
Is the antivirus software you buy on eBay as good as that you buy directly from Semantic. It says they remove the scan bar for some reason. Also Google offers a free "Norton Security Scan" with their service pack. Is this good antivirus protection?
