my computer came with norton antivirus. i really dont like it. i was thinking uninstalling the norton and buy a new antivirus software like "live one" or wat do u guys recommend ?

My computer did an iphone update 2.1 and an HP update and then my computer just about crashed at night??? Aniti Virus XP 2008??? Was installed and i can’t uninstall it…it just keeps saying that i need to pay to have the virus’s removed…my screeensaver is disabled and says that i have a virus and spyware on my comp. When i log on the the internet it says i’m unprotected….
I can’t install norton because there something wrong when i install it…it says error…"norton couldn’t help with this themselves." I’ve never had this problem in all the years i’ve worked with computers…..
Does anyone know any good free programs for now? That will remove the virus? Aside from norton? Also…i can’t do a system restore.

I have just started using macbookpro always used to use windows laptops and pc’s I’m confused as to whether I need to get virus, hacker, spyware and protection for all other risks, i want to use the internet to buy things and check bank details but haven’t so far as have always had norton or simialr on pc’s and have nothing on my mac!!! Please solve my confusion!!!!
Hello I was just wondering which Anti-virus, Anti-Spyware I should buy. AVG anti-virus & Anti-Spyware, Norton or Mcfee. I tried the free downloads but I would rather have the disk to get rid of any and all viruses.
Besides McAfee and Norton, which seem to be rubbish does anyone know of any anti virus software that can be bought from the internet?
if i were to buy an anti-virus software, like norton or Nod32; would the initial purchase be the only cost?
or would there be regular fees like a month or somthin?
I figured I could just buy it and do it myself. What is a really good one to buy? I heard Norton’s is bad. I need one that covers everything bc I definitely do NOT want any viruses or anything going wrong with the comp, esp bc I didn’t get the extended service plan with my comp………any advice???

I have some free anti-viral software programs (Anti-Virus and Antivir) on my computer but for some reason, they aren’t doing the job.
Should I go out and buy McAfee or Norton’s? How much do these programs cost (I’m on a budget)?
I have Norton. I have downloaded that tool to remove the Trojan and it claimed it removed all 3 of them. (got them from downloading songs on limewire go figure) But when I check my unresolved history it saids I still have those 3 Trojans. I try to remove them manually but it won’t work. I’ve already done that tool and it claimed to get rid of em all. Lie. HELP!
Can I burn those songs to CD’s and then just delete em all and that will get rid of it?
I have ATT anti virus also and norton is expired. It keeps on popping up to renew I cannot use computer anymore because of Norton

I definitely think they do to help get people to buy their products. After all it is a very rampant and a million dollar business. Do you think even Norton makes virus and spyware to effect people with?
Are store bought antivirus software such as Norton and TrendMicro more capable of handling viruses than free antivirus software such as AVG?
At the moment, I cannot afford to buy anti virus software. I do not want my computer to crash. Can someone recommend a good free download? I tried AVG, Avast and Kaspersky. I didn’t like any of those. In fact, I got several viruses WITH AVG installed. Thanks!
P.S I do not want a trial version. Zone Alarm only has a free firewall. I have a firewall. Thanks

I bought a Dell Inspiron 1521 running on Vista this last year. McAfee was already installed as a trial preview (don’t know what the correct term would be) I used that for the first few months and when the trial ran out I just couldn’t afford to buy the full version so I decided to try so other free trial options. I’ve used AVG (didn’t like it much) and Norton (I do like this for what I use my computer recently for) I now have the funds available to purchased a anti-virus/protection program for my laptop but I’m not sure of which I should use. I’ll go into detail of what I use my laptop for and what I like/dislike (looking for). Since it’s almost been a year since I used McAfee I can’t recall if I absolutely loved it or had issues that were so minor that I didn’t notice. and that’s what is making this choice so hard.
I use my computer for mostly internet and downloading (file sharing) I don’t have a personal internet connection and use public wireless networks for access. Since I’ve had Norton I enjoy that if i’m downloading something virus/spyware contaminated it blocks the file and lets me know. I also like that it blocks and informs me of any attempted attacks/unauthorized access to my computer. I can’t remember if mcafee did this or not because I really didn’t do a lot of this when I first got the computer. I need to know if mcafee does this in the same manner as norton or not. and would like some personal views/issues with these programs.
My computer has been infected by a virus that didn’tt allow me to download antivirus. Everytime I tried to access website like avg or kapersky, it was stated that website not found.
I managed to download avira and norton. however, even though I was connected the msg "internet connection can not be found". Now, my connection is being disconnected automatically every 20 minutes.
I want to switch to a good one from Norton. I was thinking Bitdefender or Zone Alarm.
he also says certain anti-virus (e.g. Norton) will bog down system so they install what works best. they won’t tell you what that is so you can just buy it. also says that there is a bunch of pre-installed software on the HP that you can’t really delete without going in to REGEDIT?? file.
is this a bunch of hooey that I would need to optimize a brand new computer?
