McAfee and Symantec each have a slew of different products, and I am tempted just to buy the cheapest. How do I know if that’s enough protection? I don’t download a lot of stuff, but I do shop online.

I need to buy anti virus software to protect my computer. Which is the best anti virus software out there? I was thinking mcafee or norton? I heard that norton creates problems with the workings of a computer. Please help.
I just bought a new laptop and it came pre loaded with norton security demo version and windows vista, a couple days later, my computer started acting really funny and then said my computer said windows defender has detected spyware , do i want to clean my system, i said no in case it was the virus or spyware trying to infect my system so i tried to run scan via an online scanner from mcafee, it downloaded the software but then told it encountered an error and cant carry on, the same thing happened on other anti virus sites so i’m now sure i have a virus on my computer and was wondering if i unistall norton security as its only a trial version and bought a anti virus program will it fix it or not
My bro used my computer and started downloading a bunch of crap since he kept saying yes to everything it asked of him while I think he was looking at Myspace crap. I am needing to buy a new anti-virus and my computer has said to have spyware or malware on it. Any suggestions please? I know about Norton, McAfee, and Micro PCcillan. Any other contrenders or are one of these the best ones? Thanks
I own Mcafee anti virus software and I had it since September. I downloaded items but Mcafee never detects a virus so I thought it was strange since every download I ever made was safe. Another reason is that their site adviser says certain website is green when it should be red. It also do that with downloads too. And recently my computer is randomly freezing up, shutting down, and a while ago it was slow, so I took a virus scan but it said there wasn’t any harm.So is this software right?
So I am pretty sure I have viruses and spyware on my computer because of endless pop ups, some of my applications randomly get deleted, and my computer has been slow. I downloaded the 90 day trial of mcafee and when it scanned my computer it did not detect anything. So what cam i do to remove the viruses without deleting my data?
My computer has no anti-virus program. The McAfee has expired. I need to install a new progam, but I can’t do it from the internet because it killed my connection. I don’t see my c:/ drive on the screen, but when i go to the start menu, I can find it and click explore to see it. Would i be able to buy a disc to remove the virus, since i can’t do it through the internet?
i keep getting these stupid pop ups. i have pop up blacker and all but it doesnt stop them. i also have spy bot, norton anti virus, and mcafee, trying to detect this virus, but they all say my computer is clean. i know for sure i have this virus. how can i get rid of it?
My anti-virus McAfee has detected a Trojan virus in my computer (in the temporary internet folder) while i was surfing the mp3 free download site but after i scanned it, there was no files affected detected affected with the Trojan virus. Does my computer safe at this moment but will be a disaster later on?
I recently installed Windows on my Intel iMac with Boot Camp and I really have no desire to have my computer ridden with viruses now lol, so I was wondering, what is the best antivirus/antispyware and or firewall software for Windows that doesn’t hog the resources. I know Norton, McAfee, and it’s similarities do this so i’m looking for something (preferably free) that will work. Any suggestions are appreciated!
