i have been renting to own a pc laptop and i hate it! if i finished buying it (because i have put WAY to much into it now!) and then sold it and bought a different one, which should i get…

i really love the macbook, but i have heard they are hard to get use to is this true, should i just try another laptop…

i have an hp pavillion dv7 now, i use to have a dell and i like the hp better but i keep getting viruses and stuff messing up or slowing down my computer, i am SO tired of it! i really love the idea of a macbook but i know that it is not easy to find some programs for the mac…

if you are a mac user, do you like it? is it easy for you to find programs? is it more expensive for those programs? and also how long did it take for you to get use to the interface?

anything else i need to know???
haha i know…i am not looking to do this until i find a job (which may be a while) but i am a very ocd person, i have to plan and plan months in advance!

i just finished with school and that cost me ,000 so i wasn’t able to afford anything expensive…

i know the mac does get viruses but not hardly as many as a pc does, and so far i ahve really disliked windows, and the macs i have used i love!

i want something that will be good for traveling, i really enjoy traveling and i plan on doing it more once i get a job. but a 17", 8 pound laptop is not really ideal for traveling with it! idk maybe i will just buy and ipad–you know the new one, and keep my klunker!

So i bought my macbook because they supposedly dont get viruses but right now my internet shut down and it said in a ad install spyware removal get rid of the virus
can it get a virus???
if yes how do i get rid of it?

I just bought a macbook like 3 months ago and I have had no problems not using any ant-virus/spyware program. However, the other day I clicked on a link (that looked harmless to me) but when I clicked it a bunch of windows pop up and my email was loaded with outbox mail. I had to go and then delete all that junk.
So do you use a antivirus, anti-spyware/adware program or not? If so, Which one? and what do you think was loaded on my computer when I clicked on that link?? adware? Do you think what I deleted was enough or do I need to load some kind of program to check/clean it out??
Thanks in advance!

I currently have a Toshiba Satellite, and I’m fed up with it. The wireless shuts off randomly (it has been doing this since day 1) and doesn’t work completely unless I have an ethernet, it freezes while loading websites regularly, even if it’s just me checking my e-mail, and it totally crashed last month, forcing me to re-image it. Whether it’s all just me or the laptop itself, I don’t know, but I’m definitely in the market for a new laptop. I’m currently a senior in college, so I want to have a laptop I could use for grad school and the future as well- this is not going to be some laptop I buy once, and then trash it next year for another replacement. I’ll probably be using it for Word processing, PowerPoint presentations, music and pictures, as well as internet. Nothing too huge. I was thinking of a netbook, but I don’t think it’d be able to handle all of that. I’m leaning toward a MacBook just because I am so frustrated with the things that go wrong with my Toshiba (viruses, being slow, etc), but I’m also considering Sony laptops as well.

Any suggestions? I’d rather not get a Dell (heard too many bad stories) and I’m NOT considering another Toshiba, ever. Also, considering my usage and memory requirements (which music and pictures is a big part of), what specs should I be looking for?

Any help on a good quality, longterm laptop that won’t fall apart on me in a year or two would be great, I’m clearly not an expert on this!

My birthday is next month, and I am looking into purchasing a new laptop. I have narrowed it down to the two companies who can offer the best for the money: Sony and Apple. I know that both companies are fantastic in their success, but both the Vaio and Macbook have everything I need. The only thing about the Vaio is that it uses Microsoft’s Windows Vista, and I hate Microsoft. I would rather not have to worry about viruses or hacks, since Apple has great security. I have no idea! Please help me! Btw, I want a newish model (nothing old) and I love black and/or glossy products.

I’ve searched through forums but still can’t decide on which laptop to buy, so your answers are appreciated.
I’m in college taking engineering and I got 2 more years before graduation. I have an acer laptop but it now has a crack so I want to buy a new one.
I’m considering a Lenovo because of its durability but I don’t like vista that’s why I’m considering a macbook because of its simplicity. The price of the 13" macbook is within my budget but I’m concerned that hardware or software upgrade would be expensive.
I’m thinking, I’d go for the Lenovo then I’ll buy myself a macbook after I get a job. But it would be impractical, and I would like to, as much as possible, stick with one laptop.
My main priority is durability, least maintainance then OS. I am using the laptop mainly for internet, watching movies and document processing.
So what should I get, a lenovo or macbook?
By the way, I have no issues with viruses with my acer. I rarely get any. Thanks.
Aside from durability and maintenance, my priorities would also include portability and battery length.

If I’d get a mac, would I be able to run MatLab and C Programming Language easily and hassle free? Thank you!

I bought a Toshiba Satellite A135 in April of 2007. I used it mostly for my college essays and research papers. In July, I put it away in my bookshelf. I did not need it until this month and now when i try to charge it, it will not charge. When i try to turn it on, it will not turn on. The Charger indicator on the laptop will not turn on and i really do not know what else to do. I was thinking about getting a Macbook since i would not have to worry about it catching a virus, and because it can be used with my optimum online modem via the ethernet port. I’ve never owned a MAC BOOK, but i’ve heard a lot of good things about it. Will the transition From Windows To Mac be difficult?

I’m buying a laptop and not sure what to get. I really love how the macbook looks, but this is what i wish for in a laptop:

-fast, good quality, not many viruses
-Good battery life
What I’ll be using my laptop for:

-Internet
-Movies (travel)
-Writing
-Itunes
-Virtual gaming *maybe*- ex: second life

I also wish to download safari.

I just bought the newest edition Macbook and I was wondering if I came with an anti-virus software preloaded or if I have to buy one.

I’ll be off to Uni for my degree in Oct 09 and am planning on buying a laptop. Should I buy a Windows based PC or a Macbook? I’ve been usng windows all my life(never tried a Mac) and I do have a desktop at home which runs xp pro. What I need on the laptop, word, excel, powerpoint, pdfs, email, wireless for surfing and access Uni intra net, soundless keyboard + a resonably light weight portable one would be great. Whilst my budget is very flexible, I will not be using it for gaming, watching dvds, trendy style to show off or attract theives, extra features which runs programs ‘nano’ secs faster but obviously won’t help me getting a 1st.(class honour) As far as I know there will not be any special degree related software which I need to install. However I’ll need to transfer files to and thro my home desktop and laptop. What is Vista like compared to XP? Should I get one with XP? And is Mac OS Leopard(?) easy to pickup? Acer and Fujitsu ones are really reasonably priced(from £350) and Dell ones seemed to be very attractive too. Why are Mac relatively expensive?(from £670?) Are they better?(for students) What about battery life? Some people say you don’t get viruses on Mac’s, is that true? Please share your experience/opinion, esp those who are studying/teachin/reasearching at Uni’s. Thank you for reading.
