i have been renting to own a pc laptop and i hate it! if i finished buying it (because i have put WAY to much into it now!) and then sold it and bought a different one, which should i get…

i really love the macbook, but i have heard they are hard to get use to is this true, should i just try another laptop…

i have an hp pavillion dv7 now, i use to have a dell and i like the hp better but i keep getting viruses and stuff messing up or slowing down my computer, i am SO tired of it! i really love the idea of a macbook but i know that it is not easy to find some programs for the mac…

if you are a mac user, do you like it? is it easy for you to find programs? is it more expensive for those programs? and also how long did it take for you to get use to the interface?

anything else i need to know???
haha i know…i am not looking to do this until i find a job (which may be a while) but i am a very ocd person, i have to plan and plan months in advance!

i just finished with school and that cost me ,000 so i wasn’t able to afford anything expensive…

i know the mac does get viruses but not hardly as many as a pc does, and so far i ahve really disliked windows, and the macs i have used i love!

i want something that will be good for traveling, i really enjoy traveling and i plan on doing it more once i get a job. but a 17", 8 pound laptop is not really ideal for traveling with it! idk maybe i will just buy and ipad–you know the new one, and keep my klunker!

I did it before with a desktop, but just transferred files from a virus infected hard drive.

It is a 3 month old Dell under warranty. I hooked up a digital tablet for drawing. When I turned on the computer the next morning to use it, windows would not boot. Dell is sending a new hard drive, but I have a program on there that can only be installed once, and I will probably have to buy it to put it on the new hard drive.

i just got a laptop for my home n its a 2000 dell or around that year got a bubble popping up all the time telling me my computer has a virus i don’t have a job right now to pay for a virus remover is there any free virus removers that u can recommend to cure my computer from this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Ok the current laptop I’m using is 5 years old, the disk is full, and is running slowly. I tried getting rid of some things on my computer. Still slow. Checked for viruses. None. So you would think that my dad, a computer networker engineer, would say "Ok I’m going to get a new computer, because its old and its not like we are cutting back on money and stuff." Instead he keeps procrastinating and I’m getting tired of it because this is our only computer and I need it for school and surfing in general.

So my question is what is a good laptop I can buy (0-350) that is good for internet surfing in general? I’m thinking about the 0 Dell mini but I don’t know.

I currently have a Toshiba Satellite, and I’m fed up with it. The wireless shuts off randomly (it has been doing this since day 1) and doesn’t work completely unless I have an ethernet, it freezes while loading websites regularly, even if it’s just me checking my e-mail, and it totally crashed last month, forcing me to re-image it. Whether it’s all just me or the laptop itself, I don’t know, but I’m definitely in the market for a new laptop. I’m currently a senior in college, so I want to have a laptop I could use for grad school and the future as well- this is not going to be some laptop I buy once, and then trash it next year for another replacement. I’ll probably be using it for Word processing, PowerPoint presentations, music and pictures, as well as internet. Nothing too huge. I was thinking of a netbook, but I don’t think it’d be able to handle all of that. I’m leaning toward a MacBook just because I am so frustrated with the things that go wrong with my Toshiba (viruses, being slow, etc), but I’m also considering Sony laptops as well.

Any suggestions? I’d rather not get a Dell (heard too many bad stories) and I’m NOT considering another Toshiba, ever. Also, considering my usage and memory requirements (which music and pictures is a big part of), what specs should I be looking for?

Any help on a good quality, longterm laptop that won’t fall apart on me in a year or two would be great, I’m clearly not an expert on this!

I want to buy a laptop for pretty much everyday use. I don’t care if it’s Mac or PC. Mac I know is more expensive, but less virus prone. Right know I’m looking at HP and Dell. Dell I know has awful customer support. I’ve also heard names such as Acer, Toshiba and Gateway. I’m kind of skeptical about Gateway. All I know is that I want
-A webcam
-Windows Word (not Works Word Processor)
-PowerPoint
-An average speed (currently looking at Intel Core 2 Duo)
-Be able to multi-task (music, internet, type all at once)
-would like, (but don’t need) Cd/dvd burner
-Wi-Fi (don’t need broadband)
-Would prefer <,000
-No more than ,500
-Needs to last about 4-yrs
-Needs to work!!!!!

I’m going to college this fall and I need to buy a laptop. My first choice was HP because I own an HP desktop but I don’t like the fact that it is sometimes very slow and always gets hosed with virus. I also thought of dell but I don’t know how that is. I feel like I want to get a Mac because I heard it’s really stable and safe but I’m not familiar with their operating system…

What should I get for a laptop that is reliable and not so expensive?

PS I will probably be playing a lot of computer games and I think I will use my laptop primarily for writing papers and browsing the net.

I just bought my 17 year old daughter a laptop and am wondering what would be a
good antivirus software to buy. Something that won’t slow the computer down much would be nice also. The system configurations of her laptop are listed below. Thanks . P.S. If you are an apple person please keep your opinions to your selves : )

Dell Studio 15 Notebook (Studio 1555)
Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2.8GHz, 1066Mhz, 6M L2 Cache
4GB, DDR2, 800MHz 2 Dimm
512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570
250G 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive Free Fall Sensor
Microsoft Windows Vista with SP1 Home Premium Edition 64-bit Edition English.
8X Slot Load DVD+/-RW (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive + RAM support)
Intel WiFi Link 5100 802.11AGNHalf Mini Card

I just recently bought a brand new Studio Laptop from Dell which has Windows Vista Home Premium, which I love. I’m having a hard time trying to decide on the best antivirus protection software for it. Any suggestions?

I’ll be off to Uni for my degree in Oct 09 and am planning on buying a laptop. Should I buy a Windows based PC or a Macbook? I’ve been usng windows all my life(never tried a Mac) and I do have a desktop at home which runs xp pro. What I need on the laptop, word, excel, powerpoint, pdfs, email, wireless for surfing and access Uni intra net, soundless keyboard + a resonably light weight portable one would be great. Whilst my budget is very flexible, I will not be using it for gaming, watching dvds, trendy style to show off or attract theives, extra features which runs programs ‘nano’ secs faster but obviously won’t help me getting a 1st.(class honour) As far as I know there will not be any special degree related software which I need to install. However I’ll need to transfer files to and thro my home desktop and laptop. What is Vista like compared to XP? Should I get one with XP? And is Mac OS Leopard(?) easy to pickup? Acer and Fujitsu ones are really reasonably priced(from £350) and Dell ones seemed to be very attractive too. Why are Mac relatively expensive?(from £670?) Are they better?(for students) What about battery life? Some people say you don’t get viruses on Mac’s, is that true? Please share your experience/opinion, esp those who are studying/teachin/reasearching at Uni’s. Thank you for reading.

I have a Dell, it won’t connect to Internet and keeps freezing up. I did a scan it has several viruses. My subscription is expired, I bought spyware, firewall etc through my Internet service provider but I am unable to download due to internet connection problems.

i called Dell they want -250 to restore back to factory settings. Unless I pay 250 possibility of all data lost.

What to do?

I mainly want the Mac for iMovie, and multimedia. I used iMovie before and really liked it. I would want a Dell because I think PCs are easier.

Which one has more viruses?
Which one has better tech support?
Is the Mac really worth 99, as opposed to the 0 – ish for a Dell?

Help!
