My PC got infected with Trojan fakealert and other virus just now. HELP!! Where can I get free download and remove these viruses? I tried to install Kaspersky the 30 days trial version, but during the installation process, it ask me to remove the McAfee siteadvisor 2008. But I can’t find and uninstall the siteadvisor thing in control panel > Programs > uninstall.

Most importantly, how to remove the virus?!!
I just installed the free version of Malwarebytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php.
So after I run a full scan and it finds some infection, then, what should I do to remove the viruses?

My computer will not play audio.

The volume icon in the corner had said "No Audio Output Device is installed", and, when I checked in the Control Panel, I was told the same thing. I was using my laptop last night and it played perfectly. The only things for which it was used were writing an essay and listening to music on iTunes.

Do I have to buy a part? Do I have a virus? Please help!

there are some more affects:
In My computer, C: has been hide( it didn’t lost), i can’t change display background…. it hide something in Start menu like: control panel, all programs, help and support, run….

How do I completely delete the old anti-virus before installing a new one?
I’ve removed the older anti-virus from my laptop through "remove program" option in the control panel. However, when I tried to install the new anti-virus using the installation disc I’ve just bought, it stated that the old anti-virus had not been removed yet. I’ve rechecked so many times but it didn’t work. The system requirements of my laptop are fine and compatible. So, what was wrong and how can I fix it?

i just bought a brand new computer—working fine— now i keep getting a message saying that the computer is infected! i see an icon for some "anti-virus system pro" program (which is sending me the message about the infection) opens up and scans the computer (listing all the "infections"), but when i try to open it or delete it from add/remove programs (from control panel) or even do a search of the files—nothing comes up for this program!

I downloaded the program after something popped up on my computer basically saying all the things that might force me to download this program by throwing me into a state of panic. I have since found out that it is spyware. It pops up all the time saying I have so many viruses or whatever and offers me the option of buying the software-i don’t have viruses, they just want us to buy the program. Deleting it doesn’t work, and it’s not even listed on my control panel programs. It’s on my start list twice and it has an icon on my desktop. I’ve heard that the only other way to get rid of it is by wiping out the entire computer, which I am completely against. Does anyone know of another way? I just want it gone, it’s so annoying and i’m sure it’s not safe if it has the ability to reinstall on my computer as many times as it likes.

I have a virus on my computer that has completely taken over the system’s control panel. WHen I try to view the system files, or enter the settings or the system restore, it tells me there are restrictions, and i need to contact the service administrator. I’ve tried downloading antiviruses, but the explorer shuts down. I’ve tried going into the control panel, but it’s no longer on the start menu. I have no idea what to do at this point. Please help.

Spyware Doctor may be a real program, but if there is, then there is also a fake Spyware Doctor that will give you a HORRIBLE virus that will completely destroy your computer! The best way to get rid of it is a program called UnHackMe. This program is not a virus, I guarantee it. Malwarebytes is also a great tool to help remove it as well. What happens is you may have advertisements playing in the background, you may lose part of the start menu, you may not be able to access your C drive, you may not be able to access the control panel depending on how infected you are.Click Start->Connect To->Show all Connections and Control Panel should be on the left. Create a new account with administrative privileges and download UnHackMe and Malwarebytes. Move them to a folder you can access on the other account. Log back on the infected account and run UnHackMe. Restart whenever necessary and remove only what it views as a "Bad" program. When your finished removing them all, run malwarebytes and you computer should be back to its normal state.

This is for all those people who have this bad virus in the future, however if you have a better way to fix this virus you can answer the question with that way. This will also remove most other viruses infecting your computer including any Instant Messenger viruses. Enjoy =-)

I doubt that my pc is infected by a virus through a software installation. When I try to delete this software through add- remove programme of Control Panel,my computer is abruptly shut- down. Some times my anti-virus program show the root path of the virus as such(D:\WINDOWS\system32\Drivers\gaopdxewsrnissyjoulrgsippkrjhoexpht-rootkit hidde and the same path- hidden services respectively) repeatedly but unable to delete it.Can any body help me in solving my problem?

My PC has got a typical virus. Please help me get it removed. In the Internet Options in the control panel, I have put http://www.yahoo.com as the default site, which should open whenever I click on IE6 or IE7 icon. But on my PC a site by the name http://www.asecureboard.com appears whenever I hit IE6. This is strange because under Internet Options the default site still is the same that is http://www.yahoo.com
In addiition to the above, when I try to change the web site from this httpL//www.asecureboard.com site by choosing a new address from the memory available on the drop down feature of the address bar, the site changes as per chosen option except when I choose http://www.yahoo.com. The screen remains static on site http://www.asecureboard.com if I choose yahoo site. Please seek any more clarification from me if that is required to solve my problem. I am having Norton Anti Virus software always live on my PC/
This spyware is not allowing me to go to the site http://www.download.com

I had my laptop connected to the internet while my desk top was being worked on and now that I have disconnected my laptop I can’t do anything on it. While it was connected my aunt tried to install an anti-virus program on it but now I can’t even remove it from my computer. It won’t even let me go to the add/remove program thing on the control panel.

Found a Windows Virus warning msg on my desktop after I accidentally click on a virus file. It also removed my screen saving function from the control panel. Wonder how I can recover it and also remove the warning msg. Thanks in advance for your kind reply.

I know that I can install things in safe mode but some programs won’t let you run them in safe mode. So how can I run the software to remove the virus if it keeps restarting?
Both of these links didn’t show me anything. Does someone else know what to do and can explain it?
It keeps restarting. I can’t go into to anything like control panel. I can’t even find it in safe mode.
