I just bought a new hp desktop 6 days ago with amd athlon 5600+ windows vista home premium 3 gb ram 500 gb sata hard drive im not really quite sure but i think the video memory is only 128 mb… the computer comes with a free 60 day trial to use norton but this sunday i will have a comcast provider for internet and they have that service that comes with mcafee and my computer has that windows defender thing not quite sure what the differences are but the people that sold the comp to us warned us to buy a antivirus software because they’re computer got attacked by viruses or either got hacked and needed to buy a new one…
P.s. I havent used the free 60 day norton thing I dont really have internet yet im waitin for comcast and either today or tomorrow i will buy a new antivirus/spyware software for my comp…
After I bought a new laptop I would use surfthechannel.com to watch shows & movies on my old one. About 4 months ago I think I got the virus Anti-virus 2009. My security page showed 100 threats detected, download this now for protection, & when I clicked to "X" it didnt close. I read about it online & was told to use Malwarebytes & I did. It did get rid of it, I think. Now it came back. Its only about once a week that it pops up, but I updated & ran Malwarebytes again & it still returns. I also ran AVG security scan, Spybot scan, & CCleaner. No threats were detected. I also get a Windows message saying " Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page" when I dont click anything. Advertisements always run in the back ground too. How can I get rid of it for good? & Is there a site that I can send a list of my registry to see if everything on there is ok? I know a little about computers but I can follow directions well. I only used my laptop for papers & browsing. I never download, burn CD’s, or play games. The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5002WLCi series. AMD Turion 64ML-30 processor, 60GB HDD, 512MB DDR, 802.11b/g wireless LAN. (whatever that stuff means). I would also like your recommendations on everything I would need for a solid security system, free or not. Thank you for your time. I appreciate it.
This is really getting on my nerves now. About a month ago I did a complete system restore on my old laptop (viruses, you know) using two discs I bought off of the HP website. After I dumped everything on my computer out, I popped in the Applications and Drivers disc and the desktop didn’t respond. So after 3 more grueling months, I finally got my great uncle to literally configure the disc and dish out what it had onto my computer. He said that he couldn’t get all of it on, but that didn’t mind me (thinking it was probably something I would never use). Gradually, I began to notice how slow and choppy the display was on my computer screen was; turns out that the something was wrong with the display. I looked at the DirectX Diagnostic Tool and this is what the notes said: "The system is using the generic video driver…. Direct3D functionality not available." I’ve tried everything I could think of and no go. I know its probably the card or something like that (I’m not the only one getting this problem), but I have no idea what that is. I went onto ATI/AMD and got so confused- actually everyone I’ve asked has. So I really need help with this. If you’ve come here to be some immature juvenile asking for attention then go away. I really need some help here. I don’t want to restore this thing all over again. Thanks.
