So my friend was over the other day and he saw that I had norton. He said that everyone knew that norton was the worst anti virus software. However I just bought my computer a few months and i havent had any trouble with the computer speed while running scans.

AMAZINGLY FUCKING TERRIBLE.
Norton is very good, It has always been a leader in detection and removal. It had a big problem in slowing down a computer and that’s why many of the security sites stop recommending it. It now runs very light and is a good program. You can check this out by seeing how well it did in the last AV comparatives test. You can also check out the reviews at PC world Pc mag Maxim mag laptop review. All rate it as the best on next to the best. There are other good programs out there and if you are having problems there are some good picks.
Someone telling you to get AVG free which has no rootkit protection, and it detection and removal rate is the lowest of all the big name anti-viru programs. Before you listen to people here who still use programs like AVG, or Spybot. You should check legit testing sites and reviews from places that do it all the time.
I read this some where.
Norton, about 2 years ago , lagged behind the other anti viruses. It did not do a complete job in protecting computers.
The others were better.
Norton worked on the problem and have caught up with the others.
That is their report.
They are still in business. That is one proof of that.
If you have not had any trouble, that is another proof.
You must have gotten their latest one.
one of, if not the most, overrated product going today a long with McAfee and crappy AVG, Norton will hog your memory and really not do much in the way of security, use Avira free, awesome product, save your cash.
well, Norton is not what it used too be, trust me! through trial and error, its not what it once was.. although, many many people recommend it… if your happy with it, stay with it!!! i dont think the other antivirus programs are going too be too much more exciting or more effective….. you could add the malwarebyte antimalware tool that is very effective as a combo…. you can find it for free at http://www.download.com…... you will like this program, it will not fail you when it comes too adware/malware etc….. its free and it only takes 8 mins too run a quick scan…. good luck!
Recent Norton Antivirus 2009 or 2010 , both are best , better than their previous versions , if you are no having any problems with your software , then don’t change it .
Good Luck
I had Norton on my HP desk top. I hated it. My HP has Vista on it. It’s been nothing but a problem since new. I don’t know if the Vista running system played a part in it or not. When i get my copy of windows 7 and get that computer reloaded with a new OS I’m gonna give Norton another try on that machine and see how it does. If it does as rotten as it did with the Vista OS on it that will be the end of it with Norton.
Besides it just not running right on that computer i had it on this computer that i am on right now. Norton 2010 was just as sorry as 360 to me.I have s some nasty code that i can send to any computer in my shop just to see for myself how well Norton would work. I tried 10. It detected all 10. Out of the ten it only removed four. The other 6 were able to shut down Norton. They disabled it. I’m still gonna give it a try on windows 7 when i get it. But i don’t look to be impressed any.
So far the only AV that has really impressed me is Kaspersky. It caught all 10 at the door. Never even made it on the machine. Detected all ten and blocked them. That’s the way a good all in one AV should work. Don’t just clean up after a infection, Keep it from happening all together.
Norton SUCKS. It’s nowhere as good as kasperkey or avira or avast, etc.Not only does it not pick up/detects viruses as well as those three i mentioned but it also bogs down your computer a SH*T Load. I recommend u keep your money and get Avira(free)/Avast(free) insted, but if u really want to pay for something I recommend u getting Kasperkey. Kasperky would have to be one of the best and reliable anti viruses on the market.
Norton is actually a great antivirus, the problem is that it uses a lot of useless, problematic, slow-performing bloatware. Ironically Symantec Endpoint is a corporate version without useless junk.
I use the free Avira Personal, which is really good, if you don’t mind the daily pop-up after updating.
I use AVG I use to use Norton but discovered that AVG does not slow the system down a bad as Norton inflammatory..Ummm Mean Virus!!
Norton Anti-Virus software is One of the Best Antivirus Softwares; unfautunately the software capacity is big. so it makes the computer slow; it also depends on your configuration of your machine; And the software which is Norton make bad impression on the product it self.. If your machine confirguration is low dont go for Norton. If you have higher configuration with higher capasity of RAM go for it. (Norton). Hope i answerd your question.
no good
Hi, I myself use norton anti-virus and i have never has any problems with it. It is the anti virus i would recommend because for the majority of the time it catches everything. Good luck
THE WORST NIGHTMARE OF SOFTWARE YOU CAN EVER GET.
I RECOMEND AVAST IM USING MYSELF FOR PAST 3YEARS AND HAD NO PROBLM HERES THE LINK.. HOPE I WAS USEFUL
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
Huh, coincidentally, I actually had that anti-virus…until today.
My computer got a virus last night, and I couldn’t properly turn it on today. So I had re-install EVERYTHING.
Kinda SUCKS. I’m really disappointed with it, and I won’t be using it again. Norton = bad anti-virus
i think it is fair
Hi,
ccSvcHst.exe file is the main culprit when Symantec Norton Antivirus runs. It consumes 100% of CPU usage and eventually your machine degrades in performance.
Try alternative antivirus softwares like McAfee or Microsoft Security Essentials (Freeware).
I hope this information helps!

Reetesh
Hahahahaahahahahahahaha you have Norton. I’m sosoooooos sososo sorry that you have Norton. Good luck un installing friend, or keeping a safe computer.
NORTON IS HORRIBLE
I lost all my files due to it. When i uninstalled, it wiped .DLL files from my drive. I had to reinstall vista. When i called them, they said that it wasn’t their fault and their TOS prevents me from doing anything….
I use Kaspersky. Best antivirus ever.
it doesn’t pick up as much as AVG or Kaspersky
O_o Wow! I can’t believe that, after reading all of the comments posted before mine, how many people complained about it. I’ve been using it since 2002 and, despite my first 3 computers being small in space (7 gigs of space, 18 gigs of space, and 10 gigs of space) it never slowed down my computer and always caught whatever was thrown at it.
Sure I haven’t really gone out of my ‘comfort zone’ and tried many others (I do have Spybot Search & Destroy and have tried AdAware and McAffee), and, with me not being much of a techie, I can’t give any relavent details, but, for me, Norton Antivirus has been smooth sailing for me.
However, after reading through all of this, I guess not everyone has been as lucky.
Not saying that you should or that you would, but if you’d like to look into other antivirus programs, check out this page. (Heh, I actually found that page and read down it before coming here! ^_^)

You’ll have to scroll down a little ways, but you’ll find a list of free (and a couple not free) reportedly really great antivirus programs. However, if, like me, you have an antivirus program that works, catches stuff, and doesn’t bog down your pc’s space and / or speed, I don’t see any reason why you should be in any hurry to get a different antivirus protector.
