Earlier today, my laptop got a virus. It made it so that nothing worked, and an Antivirus program has appeared that promises to fix it after I buy the full version for a lot of money. Obviously this is a virus, but I can’t fix it! It won’t let me download anything that can stop it, as it blocks my internet. And in safemode, and even networking safemode, I can’t seem to get internet either. I currently have it shut down and am using my families main computer, but I would definitely like to use my laptop again.
Two things you should know: I tried to use a flashdrive to download an anti-virus program, but it wouldn’t install. It said there was an error and couldn’t continue.
Also, I have looked for the Antivirus 2008 or 2009 file in Program Files, but it isn’t there.
I have tried all the methods that people have given for similar questions, and nothing is working. Please help! And, as I’m not very computer smart, I would appreciate it if you specified what modes I have to do things in (Safemode, normal, Networking Safemode, etc).
Thanks a lot!
Well, I’ve now manage to download malewarebytes, and after a scan in SafeMode the virus still exists. Also, I feel I should add that in Normal Mode. Task Manager also does not work.
The virus seems to call itself "SWP2009". It also calls itself Antivirus System Pro.

Hi , i hope this helps you , switch your pc on and as soon as you do start tapping F8 at the top off your keyboard , there you will see an option for safe mode , so go into that , then download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and run a scan (still in safe mode), then when it is finished click fix all , then run your anti virus and run a scan (still in safe mode), after they have both finished then start your computer as normal and run both scans together and that should take care off your problem , it will take time but it is worth it and with the Malewarebytes scan make sure you do a full scan , then also download CCleaner and run it also , after you have done the first 2 scans you will still be able to surf the net , if you think your antivirus is no good then download AVG for free and run that
Try following these instructions for its removal
http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-internet-antivirus-pro.html
You won’t find it in your programs cause its not a program its Malware
Ccleaner:
http://www.ccleaner.com/download
^^^Download Ccleaner^^^
from the link that says Alternate download.
Install it
Run the program (as administrator for vista users)
Click Analyze
Once it’s finished click Run Cleaner. We are not finished yet!
Click the Registry icon in the top left hand corner.
Click Scan for issues
Then click Fix selected issues…
I would click yes to create a registry back-up (but you don’t have to do it again after this one now.)
Spybot Search & Destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/ownmi…
^^^Download Spybot Search & Destroy^^^
Install it.
Run the program (as administrator for vista users)
Click Check for problems
Leave it for a while, get a bite to eat.
When it’s finished click Fix selected problems
Then once it’s fixed click the Immunize on the left side.
Then your comp if Immunized against incoming attacks.
AVG Free Edition
http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-F…
^^^Download AVG Free Edition^^^
Install it.
Run the program (as administrator for vista users)
This program will launch on start up and a scan will launch every day at 12pm I think.
Run a scan
It will get rid of the viruses or if a warning comes up click "delete" or "remove"
DO NOT CLICK IGNORE!!!!!
I recommend you switch off your internet while you are doing the scans. I hope I helped.
You shouldn’t get any viruses now, and most of them that are on your machine will be gone once you have followed these instructions.
Hope it helps
the anti virus you have popping up is actually a VERY BAD virus. famous even.
1. try to download malewarebytes on a different computer, put the installer onto a flashdrive and install it in safemode. run it and hopefully that works
quick tip: change the name of the installer from mbam-setup.exe to something else like "funnyname.exe". sometimes the virus will actually block the installer if itrecognizes it. just make sure you keep the .exe part. it needs that.
2. if it didnt work, or didnt install properly, here are a few how-to websites for this virus:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/uninstall-antivirus-2009
http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antivirus-2009.html
other than that, just know that the name of the virus is "anti-virus 2008", "anti-virus2009" or "anti-virus 2010". you should be able to find TONS of info about this virus on google.
mate if nothing works, i would suggest making a linux boot usb drive. this means with a small change in the bios, you will be able to use ubuntu (or ur fav linux distro) WITHOUT installing it on your system. you will be able to back up important files and such. then, you could go as far as wiping the hard drive and fresh installing your OS. you would then have to copy your files back over, install drivers and programs, but its not too hard. i did it 3 days ago for the netbook i am currently typing off.
best of luck.
Download the rescue disc onto a usb drive from another computer. Then run it.http://www.avira.com/en/support/support_downloads.html
Download the program called Dr Web Antivirus on the other computer, burn it to a CD, then boot your Laptop with this disk. It takes the computer out of the Windows Environment and will hep get rid of a virus, spyware, trojans and other issues. I use this as one of my Utility Disk when repairing or fixing computers.
If all else fails, then download and burn a Linux LiveCD and boot from it to recover your important files from Windows onto an external hard drive.
you have rogue antivirus and it’s really a trojan out of Russia. remove fake AV is a free program made specifically to remove rogues
