Is this a virus & how do I get rid of it…?
After I bought a new laptop I would use surfthechannel.com to watch shows & movies on my old one. About 4 months ago I think I got the virus Anti-virus 2009. My security page showed 100 threats detected, download this now for protection, & when I clicked to "X" it didnt close. I read about it online & was told to use Malwarebytes & I did. It did get rid of it, I think. Now it came back. Its only about once a week that it pops up, but I updated & ran Malwarebytes again & it still returns. I also ran AVG security scan, Spybot scan, & CCleaner. No threats were detected. I also get a Windows message saying " Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page" when I dont click anything. Advertisements always run in the back ground too. How can I get rid of it for good? & Is there a site that I can send a list of my registry to see if everything on there is ok? I know a little about computers but I can follow directions well. I only used my laptop for papers & browsing. I never download, burn CD’s, or play games. The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5002WLCi series. AMD Turion 64ML-30 processor, 60GB HDD, 512MB DDR, 802.11b/g wireless LAN. (whatever that stuff means). I would also like your recommendations on everything I would need for a solid security system, free or not. Thank you for your time. I appreciate it.

It’s somewhat strange that you got infected by Antivirus 2009 - it’s an old parasite, which isn’t too popular lately. You can probably remove it using Malwarebytes - just scan your system in safe mode. If it doesn’t work, try removing it manually:

anti virus security 2009 and there is a couple more they are fake virus to get you to buy there program but when you give your credit card number they got your money and you still got the fake virus, run a virus scan in safe mode , press f 8to get in safe mode. also check your firewall if you have one it also turns it off
here are some possible answers
1. unstall your anti virus 2009. try to change your anti virus choose from
top 10 anti virus in the internet.
2. if you have choosen 1 of the top ten anti virus then scan your PC for
viruses.
3.unstall the Malwarebytes it then scan again your PC.
Yes it could be due to a Virus Infections because Malwarebytes-Antimalware is capable of removing Anti-Virus 2009 (I also removed it using the same application) but it is not capable of removing all types of viruses from the computer.
I think Malwarebytes concentrates more on spywares and malwares etc and it is not a allround antivirus protection.I am taking about the free version of Malwarebytes.
Open the following link. It is a scanner from Microsoft run the free online scan on your computer and the scanner itself will help you to fix the issues which you find on your system.

Run full service scan on your computer and then check. Also the scan takes a lot of time. It took 2 hrs to complete on my computer but it checked the whole computer and fix some registry issues also of my pc. You can also run a online scan from http://www.eset.com i tried that also and its very easy to run.
kaspersky will do the best for you try downloading trial version at the official website….it is a long procedure but it is the best security by my point of view….if there will be no threat detected…this problem has to do with any registry problem…try running hijackthis it might help…also got to start===>run====>>write "msconfig" check for the last tab writing start up and there you will see a list of softwares that run at start up if you see something doubtful uncheck it ….if none of this works try running registry cleaners
