You can renew and receive another key, or remove it and use something else.

If you are not concerned with having up-to-date protection for your computer, including protection for the hundreds of new threats that come out each month, then you don't need to have current software or get updates. Once the subscription runs out, you will not get any further updates, and you will get a lot of warnings that your software and threat database are out of date. Then you can pay somebody like me to remove the infections that you will probably get.

I have better luck with Kaspersky Internet Security. One subscription can be used on up to three computers, and it does a better job for me than Norton (I use it to clean up clients' machines that have been running Norton).

Hi hariharan m,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

Unless you have purchased a multi-year license, the license period is 1 year, which is 365 days from the time that your current key was synchronized with the Symantec servers. If you do not renew your subscription, the software will stop working when your subscription expires and your computer will not be protected.

If you open Norton AntiVirus, it will tell you the number of days remaining in your subscription. A subscription to a Norton product entitles you to not only free definition updates, but also free product updates for the life of your subscription. If you still have time on your subscription, you are entitled to a free update to the latest version (2010) for the remainder of your subscription. To update to the latest version, please visit the Norton Update Center at the link below.

http://updatecenter.norton.com/

If you renew your subscription, you will be sent a new Activation Key. Once you enter the new Activation Key, your My Norton Account will be synchronized with the new information and the number of days remaining on your subscription will be shown. You will then be entitled to any future product updates that are released during your subscription period.

Thank you,
Mike
