We live in the NW side of Chicago…. and one of our computers has been infected with a virus, Im aware that if Im not mistaken even if we now go to lets say Best Buy and buy a Virus Protector it will not get rid of the virus.. even though I always thought there were Virus Remover programs… So my question is do you guys know of any cheaper alternatives to Best Buy who the starting fee is 0 of maybe a mom and pop shop or atleast a place I can trust in that may be a bit cheaper inside the city of Chicago? I believe Micro Center is also expensive.

Just get a new computer. It is worth it since you will pay more for it if you let some one else do it. But when you buy a pc just play safe get virus protection. Get McAfee it is better than norton.
AVG.com
u should have had antivirus installed the minute u got the computer
get McAfee security Center
Get one for free. Here is a link and its a very good one too.

If you buy an anti- virus program, it should remove any viruses on your PC.
My father-in-law is a computer whiz (they live near Chicago) – you can send me a message if you would like his number.
Seconding the 3rd answerer’s recommendation to download and install Avast. It is a free, reliable, and highly effective antivirus program.
This may sound a little weird but I would try the swapOramma on 4500 south ashland. They have a couple of reputable vendors in the main building(not outside). My husband and son and brother in law have recommended this vendor to their friends and it is near the main entrance on the ashland side. The stalls have numbers and you could go to the main office and ask for which vendors deal with computers. My niece had her toshiba laptop screen fixed for $60 and they gave her a 90 day warranty. They can remove viruses on site or they can have it back to you next week or sooner if you like. You can trust these people because they have been there for years. If you decide to try this place beware of the heavy traffic. The inside vendors sometimes take their time coming in so they may not be in until after 11 or 12 pm and they only work sat and sun.
Many ISPs have free anti virus tools that come with your subscription. Download the tool then run a scan.
