I’ve searched through forums but still can’t decide on which laptop to buy, so your answers are appreciated.
I’m in college taking engineering and I got 2 more years before graduation. I have an acer laptop but it now has a crack so I want to buy a new one.
I’m considering a Lenovo because of its durability but I don’t like vista that’s why I’m considering a macbook because of its simplicity. The price of the 13" macbook is within my budget but I’m concerned that hardware or software upgrade would be expensive.
I’m thinking, I’d go for the Lenovo then I’ll buy myself a macbook after I get a job. But it would be impractical, and I would like to, as much as possible, stick with one laptop.
My main priority is durability, least maintainance then OS. I am using the laptop mainly for internet, watching movies and document processing.
So what should I get, a lenovo or macbook?
By the way, I have no issues with viruses with my acer. I rarely get any. Thanks.
Aside from durability and maintenance, my priorities would also include portability and battery length.
If I’d get a mac, would I be able to run MatLab and C Programming Language easily and hassle free? Thank you!

Macbooks are much more durable. I’ve had my macbook longer than my friend who recently bought a higher end Lenovo laptop. His is already starting to fall a part (keys falling, really slow etc.)
As for software updates, don’t worry. The only updates you will really need to pay for are the operating systems. Might I add, that Apple sells everything in one for about $129 (around there). Windows 7 (their upcoming OS) is coming in packs once again. Supposedly, the ultimate pack is going to be $320, which is even more than doubled Leopard’s price.

Go with the Macbook if you don’t want to worry about maintenance.
Good luck
I had a lenovo and it had lots of problems after awhile, i say macbook…………
Macbook for sure! My wife has one for 3 years now and never had a complaint.
As for Lenovo, it is a piece of junk, everyone I know who had one were seriously disappointed by it. In the beginning, it works great, but then, things start malfunctioning.
Macbook
Macbook because it’s a bigger company than Lenovo like on T.V., Lenovo came up only once or twice.
Im just saying… Macbook is bigger than Lenovo.
