It may not be your problem. It may be the design of that web-site. You should not go to that web-sit again.

Virus Detection and Removal:

Most antivirus programs can not scan, repair or remove file that are in use. So a normal scan of your computer while the operating system is running can miss many virus files.
Therefore it is necessary to scan your computer with a virus scanning tool that is able to do a boot scan. This basically means that it scans the HDD(s) for viruses before loading the operating system.

Another common problem seen is the use of several virus scanning programs at the same time. Find one program and use it and remove any others (that does not include ad-ware or spy-ware programs). Keep it updated; however most programs do this automatically if you have internet connection.

Deleting, repairing or quarantining files? Most programs offer this option when it detects an infected file. The best choice 9 times out of 10 is quarantine it. If the file is in your windows system folder a repair might be in order, but that is only if it is a required system file that has been changed, not a file added. Also repair operation rarely work. A good idea is to look at the log after the scan and see if any important files have been quarantined. You can usually just use Google the file name to find out what it is and does. If by chance a system file is beyond repair, you may have to do a system repair install to fix this.

A program I recommend for virus scanning and continued protection is Avast which can be downloaded for free from http://www.avast.com . If you chose the “for at home use” license when registering then it is free. You will receive virus updates automatically, unlike AVG which the free version requires manual updates. Also Avast has real time scanning for Web browsing, e-mail, file download (including P2P), and chat. For complete information about Avast check out their website.

Ad-ware or Spyware Detection and Removal:

There are not many good free programs for this. In fact many of the free programs that say they remove ad-ware install ad-ware on your computer when you use them. Microsoft does offer for Windows XP, Vista and 2003 servers a program called Microsoft Defender. If you have a valid copy of Windows then you can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx . This program does scan and remove most ad-ware and spy-ware, but not all. It does automatic updates, and provides real-time protection.

Another highly recommended, but not free program is Webroot’s Spysweeper which can be found at http://www.webroot.com . This is an excellent program for initial scanning and removing and for real-time continuous protection.

Tips for scanning with a ad-ware scanner.

1.Turn off system restore, this allows the program access to the file keep in your restore points. These files can be infected very easily so best to check them also. Turn system restore back on after completed.
2.If scanner stops responding in the middle of a scan some ad-ware may be interfering with. If this happens boot your computer in safe mode and scan again.
3.Don’t get to concerned about cookies. Cookies are just a fact of life on the internet. Most are not a serious threat nor do they take up to much hard drive space. If you are concerned about the security risk of a certain cookie then check the information about it at a security site like www.symantec.com.
4.Reset your browser security and delete all temp files before scanning.

No matter what Malware (ad-ware,spyware, Trojans etc…) removal program you use some problems will have to be fixed by manually removing files and repairing registry entries. A good site to get free software and tips, plus help to do this is http://www.majorgeeks.com .

HighJackThis is a powerful scanning and removal tool to help remove unwanted software on your computer. It is for advanced users only. Using this program incorrectly can result in removing important system files and processes that will cause major problems.
It works well, but I recommend getting assistance to use it. This can be found at http://www.majorgeeks.com .

Following these instruction you should be able to completely rid you computer of unwanted viruses and software. You should also be able to keep it that way by doing virus and ad-ware definitions updates; system security updates from Microsoft; and most important using safe Internet practices regarding, web browsing, e-mail’s, and file downloading.

Good luck and safe surfing
