Now, however, it takes ages to log on, and takes about 15 minutes to hibernate and resume. Here are the specs:
Centrino 2, P8400, 2.26GHZ
250GB harddrive
2GB 800 mhz ram
1066 Front side bus
3 mb L2 Cache
I have installed Avira anti-virus, Threatfire, advanced system care, and Smart Defrag. I optimize, defrag, and run virus scans on my computer every week, so it cannot be a virus. Any help will be greatly appreciated
Additional notes: It came originally with Windows Vista Home Premium, however, i have now made it dual boot with windows XP. When i first installed XP, it hibernated in about a minute. After around 3 months, it takes ages to hibernate, login, and resume. Sometimes it even freezes as it is logging in :(
I have also used less than half of my harddrive space on both of my partitions

Here’s some tips that might help you:

    - Make sure you have 15% free space on your hard drive (or at least 10GB)
    - Try funny shutting down then booting up again, then check the time it takes to hibernate
    - Run defrag in safe mode
    - Try disable hibernation, reboot then re-enable hibernation

It’s a virus hidden in your registry.
    http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html

That removes it, but read the instructions carefully and description.

When you installed the program, Do a system scan and log file, And post your log file image here, and i will tell you what to delete.

P.S only scan, Don’t fix anything, I will tell you what to fix!

The more programs you load that startup when you boot, the slower the pc gets when you boot up or shut down! This isnt rocket science
