The info you gave is complete enough but you confused Windows Defender (legitimate) with Windows PC Defender (smitfraud, rouge security program);this is what you’ll need to do:
Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware at CNET at http://www.download.com
    update it signatures

    shut off system restore
    shut your PC off
turn PC on while holding key F8
in safe mode, open Malwarebytes’ and scan with the longest scan and remove ever thing it finds.
    turn PC off
restart it,without holding down key F8 and this thing should be gone
    turn on system restore

Also check your Task Manager for this program and kill/end the program. Right click on any empty space on the task bar and click on Task Manager.

    Shutting off system restore:
    click on start
    open all programs
    go to accessories
    then to system tools
    open System restore
in settings, you’ll find the option to disable system restore

also go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com for other removal instructions.

Further more it sounds like your running no security so I suggest that you get these right away:

These suggestion will keep money in your pocket:

That depends on your PC skill. If you’re new at this then I suggest that you get AVG 8.5 free.It has an e-mail scanner, link scanner, web shield and a few more needed features.A lot of people add Threatfire to AVG to boost their level of virus detection and protection, Both of these are easy programs. If you’re intermediate to experienced, the I suggest Avast Home Edition 4.8

You’re also going to need free anti-spyware/malware to add to your anti-virus and I suggest that you get these 3:
    1 Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition
    2 Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
    3 SUPERAnti-Spyware

There is also a free firewall you could get in case you don’t want to use the Windows firewall and it is PC Tools Firewall Plus. It has the highest rating of the free firewalls and many of the paid by testing done at Matousec.com. It comes in at 99% while another popular free firewall,Comodo Security Suite, came in at 97%. .I had PC tools and tested it at GRC’s ‘Shields Up’ and PC Flank’s testing apps and both said that PC Tools firewall totally stealthed all my ports and passed.Comodo has been known on occasion to fail.

These are available free at CNET at http://www.download.com

Since you having an issue with using your Internet, here’s a few tips for you.

Reboot into Safe Mode with Networking and you should be able to connect to the internet then.

Download a program called Malwarebytes here’s a direct URL to download.com so it should be safe:

    http://download.cnet.com/3001-8022_4-10804572.html?spi=f033baacf49bfcf0043951cadb37e880&part=dl-10804572

Install, update and then perform a scan with this program.

It should get rid of a lot of the infections that installed on your system.

Remember, the biggest problem that you are having, is not that infection that’s allowing you to see it, it’s the ones in the background that you can’t see.
