You don’t need to buy software. The best anti-virus program is Avast and it is free. It loads on your computer, but updates automatically while your computer is on. I manage over 30 computers and haven’t had a problem since I began installing this a few years ago. Also, if you already have viruses, you should use TrendMicro’s Housecall to detect and get rid of them. This is also free.
without knowing how much ram and what operation system you are on my answer will have to be very generic.

AVG or anti viral guard is a free download and in my opinion the best free anti spyware and viral available.
Also download for free Advance Windows Care Personal and or lavasofts’s ‘ Ad-ware. Some other people might suggest that you buy norton or macfee but dont they slow down your computer and cost you money.
Just google those names and start downloading.
