I bought an ASUS LapTop with VIsta Home already installed. How do i use the recovery disk i got me with it?
I hve got so many viruses on my new laptop and now i need to wipe it clean and start again.
I have backed up all my music, photos and school work but now I need make sure i use the recovery disk properly.
I’ve never had to do this.
Do i just put it in and boot from dvd drive? I want it fully cleared so i can start again with virus protection from the start.
If no one knows how to help with this problem. Can someone please tell me if i am able to format the hard drive without putting vista back on? so I can buy a new copy and install it the normal way? Or maybe I could install XP instead…

just put the recovery dvd in and follow the instructions its pretty straight forward
If the cd does not boot you have to press one of the function keys to get the boot menu its usually f11 or f12
As for putting XP on it you will struggle to get all the drivers for your hardware

Boot your computer from the CD backup and follow the on screen instructions. It will ask you is you want to format the HD. Delete the existing HD and then create a new HD, then install the Window Vista files. Make sure that you have the antivirus installed before you go online to prevent and foreign viruses from attacking your new HD.
