How do I remove the Virus warning msg from Windows which is now replaced my desktop??
Found a Windows Virus warning msg on my desktop after I accidentally click on a virus file. It also removed my screen saving function from the control panel. Wonder how I can recover it and also remove the warning msg. Thanks in advance for your kind reply.

"Warning! Spyware detected on your computer" is a result of rogue antispyware program called Antivirus XP 2008 (AntivirusXP2008) that infects user’s computer system. This adware hijacks users desktop, it changes wallpaper with this message:
“Warning! Spyware detected on your computer! Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer”
"Warning! Spyware detected on your computer" can also change users homepage and show this type of message:
”Insecure internet activity. Threat of virus attack”

A small, free, and usually effective program is Spybot Search and Destroy.

There are several steps to regaining control of your system.
1) Start > Run > MsConfig . Uncheck the SERVICES and programs that automatically load when you boot. Later, you can easily re-enable any that you want to autoload.
The main service to disable Microsoft Messenger. Click the Services tab, scroll down to Messenger (it’s an alphabetic list).
2) Safeboot your system. During the boot process, press the F8 function key. From the menu, choose Safe Boot with Networking.
3) Run Spybot.
You might have a ROOTKIT virus. If it can’t be killed then it has become part of your Windows system.
In that case, you should install a 30day trial version of Kaspersky.

Great, install these and run in SAFE MODE! I can’t stress that enough. I f you do not, the virus will block your attempt to remove it. Be sure to run all of these at the same time and don’t restart until all three are done. Hope this helps! It worked for m, and i had over 200 different malwares.
