How do I remove a virus on my PC without resintalling Windows on it?
I have a virus on my PC but I don’t want to have to erase everything and start from scratch. Is there any other way to try and remove the virus?

If you currently have no Anti-Virus or Spyware programs:
Do a spyware sweep by going to http://www.download.com and searching for "Spybot". Download the newest version of Spybot Search and Destroy. Install it, update it, run the scan then immunize by following the prompts right after installation.
After the spyware scan make sure you have an up to date anti virus running. If you do not go to http://www.download.com and search for "AVG". This is a low-resource, free, very highly acclaimmed anti-virus. Download the newest AVG Free Edition and install it.
If you have alteady tried these there are 2 other programs that I can swear by. I have seen these two remove things no other program has:
http://www.superantispyware.com is amazing. I was skeptical, but am a believer now.
Also, http://www.spywareterminator.com for a real-time resident shield from malware. Get those, and if they don’t take care of it, let me know: shastax(at)charter.net

install and antivirus program. many free ones can be found with an internet search. I would go to download.com and download AVG and install and run that.

Set your computer back a few days. Go on Help And Support - And you’ll see set your computer back to another date. Go 5-8 days back. Anything you’ve downloaded within that time will be lost, but you won’t loose everything.

Get ESET NOD32, install, update, and run full system scan.

download an antivirus program such as avast, avira antivir, or avg 8 (all have free versions)…. run a system scan… and the antivirus should detect that virus and you may be able to remove it
