my laptop is infected with a virus/spyware called microsoft xp fraud where it pretends to be an anitivirus software but it really isnt. it changed my desktop to black and everytime i use the internet, all the ads say that i have a virus and i need to buy anitvirus software. i used spybot, avg, and superantispyware but it couldnt remove it completely. i still have it and now i cant even access the start menu or use the internet. is it too late, or is there anything i could do to fix it? my friend talked about using a different computer and using the wireless network to scan the computer with a different computer. is that possible? any suggestions appreciated!
you could try this, turn off the computer, you may have to do a hard shut down , since you can not get to the start button, then restart, and tap the F8 key and this should give you a screen with options, select safe mode with internet , if you get this far, see if you can get this, use the free version and run it. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php if you get that sceen using the f8 key, you will have to use the arrows and enter key to select the safe mode with internet.
