What is the best anti-virus softare to get? I have heard of AVG, Norton, McAfee & Avast, any good?
Also, is it work getting the free or paid for version? What other criteria should I look at.

Thank you!

When I looked around about a year ago I was advised to go for Eset nod. Symantec was preinstalled on my laptop (Thinkpad) but apparently use a lot of internal memory – an alas! my computer’s performance improve significantly when switching to Eset. So far I am very happy with Eset and now all of us in my company (3 people) use it.

i recommend you use Norton Internet Security. free ones don’t protect you as much.

Norton and McAfee are the best known in the US. You’ll need their comprehensive package which runs about $50/year.

one of the best antivirus software is Avast, it blocks viruses from coming and also great in scanning and deleting viruses.

I have been using the free version of AVG for years without any problems at all.

Norton is a dog! Don’t go anywhere near it.
It eats a huge chunk of system resources for no good reason. Its also way too expensive. In fact unless you are running on a corporate network there is no good reason to ever pay for antivirus.
