Im not sure if the pop ups are linked with the viruses but its always the same pop ups.

it might be because of trojans or viruses ..
the best scanner and removal is kaspersky ..
but you can find simple ones like ad aware or nod 32 …
google them you will find a way to go ..
Popups are ads that pop up in your face while surfing the net. If that’s what you are talking about, get Google’s toolbar and popup blocker. Best one of those.
If you are talking about strange stuff that pops up when you are NOT on the net, then that’s spyware, not virus. A good antivirus will possibly see the spyware but can’t remove it. You need both antivirus and antispyware.
Currently the best combination I’ve found, whether you have a laptop or a desktop, is Avast 4 Home (antivirus) and SuperAntiSpyware. It really doesn’t matter what the hardware size is, what matters is what the software will do for your computer.
Just as good an antivirus is Avira.

AVG has a freeware version, that allows you to scan, and remove viruses for free. It Has a toolbar that is a pop-up blocker, pop-up blocker, and a program called Search-Shield. Search shield will scan links you get from search engines, like google and yahoo. And tell you what links have viruses and what links are safe.
Unlike typical pop-ups (stopped with available blockers) 3rd party cookies are entirely different critters. When PC’s (personal confusers) misbehave, like pop-up’s, going to unrequested sites, goofy warnings, etc.; one step to help reduce annoying pop-ups & unrequested websites from being displayed on your machine is to turn off 3rd party cookies.
INTERNET EXPLORER: Tools> Internet Options> Privacy> Advanced: here check ‘Override automatic….’; ‘Allow session cookies’; ‘Allow 1st party cookies’; & ‘Block 3rd Party Cookies’.
FIREFOX: Tools> Options> Privacy: here UN-CHECK ‘Accept 3rd Party cookies’
OPERA, et al: not sure, check under ‘options’ for this.
Some current and extremely bad malware originates as a pop-up, but when you click the ‘X’ or ‘cancel’ (thinking to close the window) it does the opposite & installs the malware. Known as ‘Click-jacking’ (UI directing) where a malicious action, hidden behind a browser display, is actually what your actions (clicking, viewing, link threading, etc.) performs.
These exploits have been especially focused on the site ‘My Space’.
Because of inherent architecture of the Internet (notably ‘Flash’ scripting) these vulnerabilities are readily exploited in Internet Explorer, and until fixes are made available throughout the Security Community, it is now urgent that you use Firefox WITH the ‘NoScript’ add-on, which will prevent "Click-jacking’.
NoScript: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
For a somewhat detailed (but not overly tekky) explanation of all these ‘Click-jacking’ effects (and they are scary!) go to

episode 168.
Then, you’ll have to ERADICATE MALWARE with Spybot, Ad Aware, and all available trusted cleaners & Anti-virus software, and suggested
TOOLS FOR SPECIFIC INFECTIONS listed from other posts in this forum.
Note: some current ‘rouge’ malware will undo this change, so you might have to redo this step after malware has been eliminated.
Tell your friends to do these steps BEFORE they get infected.
Have nearly ad-free pages when surfing; use Firefox with these add-ons:
NoScript: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
Flashblock: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433
Add block plus: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
For anti-virus i would suggest Avg 8.0 which has got these features,
Anti-virus, Anti-spyware, Email-scanner, Link scanner (website checker/scanner), Resident shield (internet protection).
For pop-up blocker im not sure but look around on these websites:
