I’m just looking for something that really works. Right now, I have MCcafee ant-virus software and it’s somewhat good. But, my free trial ran out, and I don’t want to pay out more money since I already spent for the software. Any suggestions?

If you want to PAY, get Kaspersky SUITE 2010. It’s not that expensive but it is worth every penny. You have to do a little configuring to get max protection but it’s simply the best.

Well if you’re looking for a free one you should try AVG free or Malwarebytes, if you are willing to pay you should get the paid edition of AVG, it’s really good.

I’ll give you a whole setup you can use for the security of your PC.

    Anti-Virus- http://antivirus-antispyware-removal-softwar.blogspot.com/

    Anti-Spyware- http://malware-virus-spyware-remover-tools.blogspot.com/

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/

    Firewall- http://free-firewall-protection.blogspot.com/

    Extras- http://www.ccleaner.com/

That whole setup will keep your PC protected and won’t take up too much space. Also, only download 1 Anti-Virus. Downloading more then one can mess up your PC. You can download more then one Anti-Spyware.

Note- This anti-virus I provided you with was rated one of the best free anti-virus programs if not the best of all, from many trusted sites.

I have payed for virus and spyware programs for awhile and there are free ones out there that are just as good if not better. I use a program from http://www.malwarebytes.com for any spyware related issues and you can get a good free virus software from free.grisoft.com called AVG. There is another website called http://www.bitdefender.com that has an online scanner that is very effective.

Avira is free and it’s pretty much the best free antivirus out there. There’s a few others I’ve tried (like Avast), but I’ve been using Avira for years now.

This will let you grade software and decide which ones you want to take your chances with… But if I had to suggest something I’d suggest: Kaspersky, Avast, or AVG all 3 are great. (Just pick one though. It’s not a great idea running more then one AV. Most of them wont even let you install another without removing themselves.)

Malwarebytes is great if you want to go through and do on demand scans to see if your AV missed something… I’m not so sure its that great for running instead of an AV, its mostly a cleanup tool for when something slips through. :)

    Hope that helps!

I have used Zone Alarm Firewall, I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I changed to Avast a few months ago and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps
