malwarebytes more so…as it’s a spyware cleaner.
will search and eliminate junk internet stuff.
CCleaner more so deals with registry keys, and systems info. so you can get into a little trouble using it without knowing what you’re doing.
how old is your computer? have you ever reinstalled windows? do you do a lot of file sharing, file stealing, large files, movies, music, games. to you use a lot of chat programs, myspace/facebook. downloads of all sorts. stupid little games or free software for weather, or sports, or whatever.
older computers, bogged down with a bunch of junk, run slow.
get something for viruses, but also do something about the junk.
malwarebytes is good for one aspect of this. deleting/uninstalling old programs, and useless applications, is another.
defrag your hard drives as well. if you’ve never done it.
but in general… also consider how old the machine is, and how much you use it without taking care of it. etc
Try doing a system restore or better yet just reinstall windows.

AVG Anti-Virus is one of the best, even among paid programs. It is free.
In computers if it free it trash and causes problems.

AVG is the best FREE program….but there are definitely better ones that you have to pay for.
there is AVG free and then there is the free trial of AVG, two diff. programs but one is permanant and the other is not. i used the free trial and it got rid of the viruses on my computer but i havnt put the permanat one on yet but from what ive heard they both work really well.
unfortunately free anti viruses can only be protective (not so effective though) and If your pc shuts down by it’s self , you should be happy if the cause turns out to be ONLY a virus…I think its a worm…(there is no free cure for worms…sorry
Avira is great, I have it, and its free. You can get it at download.com. Oh and make sure you quarantine the infections for atleast a week before you delete them. You don’t want to delete anything important. Once you see they was in quarantine for a week and everything is working good then you can delete the infections. That’s with any antivirus program you decide to get.
