just wondering

if this really solves the virus and spyware problem without having to buy expensive software and it’s not one of those anti virus companies that make the viruses themselves
those who preferanother anti-virus program tell me also please tell me another free anti-spyware program that everyone trusts

AVG’s antispyware is between v. good to excellent (IMO); but the free AVG antivirus is barely adequate. Avast and Avira are both better for free antivirus apps. But in any case, AVG is definitely *not* a bogus company. Here are links for Avast and Avira just in case you want to check them out:

    Avira AntiVir PE Classic: http://www.free-av.com/
    Avast 4 Home Edition: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

i think it really does do a really good job, especially considering it is free. if you go over to cnet’s download.com, and look up avg antivirus, you will find it has a 4 or 5 out of 5 star rating from the people at download.com. and cnet is a huge nationwide country, so don’t think it’s a bad tester either.

I trust it. I like to use TrendMicro’s free web tool instead. I have never had a computer virus.

avg and grisoft make excellent software, avg anti-virus and spyware are what are protecting me as i type this message. they update automatically and are not in your face like norton or Macaffe. They will only get in ur face if they:

    1. Are Updating
    2. Found a threat (you then have options on what to do)
    3. News about new versions
    Etc…

They are excellent pieces of software and I would trust them with my life.

    yes
avg is a fine product. others prefer avast, which is also free.
I would use AVG or avast over norton and mcafee any day.

AVG7.5 Free anti-virus has been protecting my computer for 8 years now and has done a great job. It is a very legitimate program- (you hear pros and cons about all protection programs depending on what other people are using (they always say theirs is the best) -

I won’t say AVG is the best, there is no "BEST"- only what works good for you.

AVG anti-spyware program (formerly Ewido) is also a very worthy program.

Some people prefer Norton even though it insists on using all of your system resources. That’s fine with me IF it works for them. Norton’s biggest problem (aside from that just mentioned) is that new users have a hard time understanding how to use it.

If a protection program is hard to understand and you don’t take the time necessary to learn how it works- then it is probably not a good choice-

    Use protection,
    your computer will thank you.
