    Norton is now selling a product to protect Mac’s from online threats. Also Avast has Mac protection software. The weak point of the Mac is the browser many of the threats are in your browsers. You can probably get rid of whatever on your Mac by deleting your History, internet temp files, I don’t know what browser you are using but there should be a clear private data option. You will here that there are no virus around for a Mac and that’s true to a point. But there are information stealing spyware out there that will infect a Mac, If your doing the kind of stuff that allows you to already getting attacked on your Mac you should probably try Norton or Avast protection for your Mac, This is newer software and both companies are having some issues getting the software to run without some minor problems. Your post is not the first of seen with a Mac users getting attacked by spyware.

    Macs are just a vulnerable to attack as is any other computer. You need to run anti virus and anti spyware just like everyone else. You’ll have to do some searching for versions of security software that will work on your Mac.

    put it to u this way –company’s would not make a program if there wasn’t a chance of getting infected
    look more and more people are buying apple equipt. so do the odds –yes sooner or latter they will be attacked
    last year apple repaired 258 software flaws in their security section alone —well

    Macs are not as immune and immortal as you are lead to believe. Spyware is very possible and probable. Although there are many programs out there to combat it, many for the mac cost money. Just do a little research.

    Hello Crazy;

    Yes they can and there are virus’s that attack every computer every day.
    Mac and Linux are safer as the file structure is more able to defend intrusion…Example; The file structure that allows a USER to operate in an area where FILE PERMISSION is granted is the key. Simply; You should have been a User(Crazy) that does not have "Administrative" privileges which can harm System Files….

    Linux has a file that checks for Intrusion and with out Permission does not accept. Again, I am using SuSe Linux that has App-Armor as a tool along with Firewall protection.

    I am sure your Mac has a good Firewall and the important thing is making sure you are updating often..Good Virus protection software is Critical for protection.

    Not exactly sure what you are referring to as to the Warning message. The reason is that you are online to post question..My question is. "are you using the same computer"?
    If yes, then you will want to go directly to
    http://www.symantecsecuritycheck.com and have a complete scan of your computer..This site is safe and it is Free..Must be patient for it takes a while.
    Again, When mention of an "ad"…This is frequently alarming people (like me) as a pop-up ad will have a alarm message that can cause concern. If so then follow the directions to the "Symantec Security Check web site and proceed with the scan.

    Last; Call your ISP and let them know what is going on and follow their instructions. Then, Create more than one USER so you can switch to another that is safe..AND..Make a habit to BACK-UP your computer often so you can go back to when everything was OK.
    Good luck
    tom

    I used a company called PCLive to clean my infected computer. They clean Macs too. They guaranteed it too; if they couldn’t fix it, they wouldn’t charge me. They got it cleaned too.
