I plan on purchasing a pc laptop for college and I want it to be safe, do I have to buy both of those or just one, if so which one? If you don’t think Norton is good, I’d appreciate it if you would recommend another brand of security software for a computer.

If I had to choose from Symantec products I would go for Norton Internet Security 2010. And you don’t have to buy both. However, I recommend ESET NOD32 Smart Security. I use it myself and it really blocks various suspicious/ harmful files better than other antivitrus programs i have used. Read more about NOD32 http://www.eset.com/products/index.php

you are a mug if your purchase for anti-virus programs, their FREE!!!!!…Install AVG, it blocks virus infected downloads and emails and also blocks you from entering dodgy web-sites….its very important to have anti-vius program installed because if your computer gets infected, the virus will be emailed to all your contacts in your email address book espeacially instant messengers like msn, so be aware. http://www.filehippo.com/download_avg_antivirus/

Get Norton Internet Security 2010 it’s very good. In till a few days ago, I told be users if they did not like Norton to get Kaspersky Internet Security. But I just got done running it for a week and on a clean computer I got 3 false positives. The AV comparatives tests on anti-virus software are out and Kaspersky detection has went down hill only doing a little better than AVG. Since I’ve recommended Kaspersky to many people, I then checked another big test of Internet Security Suites and Kaspersky did not do that good. So last night I had to email everyone I told to get Kaspersky last year, and tell them of Kaspersky performance. A better pick would appear to be G Data Internet Security.
No you do not need Norton Antivirus, Norton Internet Security is Norton anti-virus plus a firewall and other security features that Norton anti-virus does not have.

No, just get either one which depend on you. Antivirus only protects against malware, spyware, and adware. While Internet Security does that and have the firewall against anti-theft and so fourth. I recommend the suite if you are getting Norton, but I highly recommend you go witht he 2010 then 2009.
