i bought webroot antivirus with antispyware and firewall. inside the box was the disk, plus a code on the envelope. i was wondering how many times can you use the code?
i just bought a new laptop with Windows Vista and i need protection for it. i dont want to use McAfee or Norton because they use too much of my system’s resources.
i have heard that there are several free programs that will protect my computer real-time as well as McAfee or Norton will.
i always select a best answer.
A few days ago I download a Collage Creator program from the internet. The next day, my computer was running horribly and had porn icons on my desktop. I uninstalled the program which I believe caused the problem. Whatever downloaded to my computer will not allow my virus scanners to run, I have AVG free edition (the most recent update available) and spyware software. AVG keeps saying inactive components. My question is, if I buy anti virus software, will the virus possibly let it run since it will be on my D drive? If so, what is the best anti-virus to buy?
First answer – that doesn’t help with anything…
P.S. I’ve tried restoring my computer or starting in safe mode, it won’t allow me to.
I was gonna buy a laptop online for £400, but when i was about to buy it it said that i can buy it with antivirus software which is £30. does that mean if i dont buy the software the laptop hasnt got it at all?
2010 Anti-Virus Software?
i am planning on getting new 2010 anti virus software and haven’t decided which to pick. My top 3 are Kaspersky, Bit-Defender, and Norton. I am also wondering i bought software for 1 year but for 3 computers but does that mean i have a year for 3 computers? so i could get 3 years out of it?
my windows live care is about to expire and i need help. buying another software. i just bought the ESET smart security 4 software but im not sure if thats a good software. im thinking about norton 360 avg or panda software

I purchased Kaspersky Firewall/Antivirus protection. I think from the time my old one expired and me buying this software I got a virus. It will NOT let me load this. Just being laid off of my job I’m looking for a easy solution and not to go spend 0 for someone to manually check my computer. Does anyone know how I can go around it to load and check for viruses in my computer?

Is there some type of software (McAfee, Norton, Symantec, etc.) that you can buy to get rid of the Sheur2 trojan once and for all? As in it won’t reinstall itself after you reboot the computer…
Ok, my computer is all screwed up, or so i think it is. run a Windows defender scan and it says i have a Severe Trojan virus called: Trojan:Win32/Vundo/gen!L and i press "apply actions" a window then pops up saying that it needs to send some info to Microsoft to gain information about the things to further the effectiveness of windows defender. so i do send the information and it says it encountered a problem "one or more actions could not be completed successfully". So i check for updates as it recommends and there is none. great I’m screwed. so i then go to my McAfee and do a scan, the scan stops in the middle of it and shuts down the McAfee program Wonderful what now? So then i notice on Internet explorer that is i type something in to google say Myspace and click on the myspace link it directs me to a totally different site such as Elle magazine ?!?! i have no idea whats going on is that caused my the virus?
next i look up best Anti-virus softwares and find Spyware Doctor… and i just found out i have a shit load of threats and infections T_T
10 threats and 344 infections to be exact i have 2 highs, 2 mediums ,4 lows, and 2 "info & PUAs" great, great now im stuck.
ok now time to solve the problem what do you recommend me doing? buying a anti-virus software such as Spyware doctor?

The user’s guide was written in Japanese, and i don’t know how to read most of its writings. Im having a hardtime and headache bcoz i can’t install it into my computer (XP 2000).

I bought my son a cd software that is an anti-virus program. Can he install it on his computer, and then I take the same cd and install it on my computer? or is it a 1 computer thing?

when I bought the laptop, I got the norton anti virus software togethre with my laptop. fine. now, i bought Mc Afee software for the same purpose, so, now, I wanna to DELTE/REMOVE the Norton anti virus from my laptop, so, went to CONTROL PANEL—-then Programs tab, there I tried to REMOVE it, but its not removing. so, am guessing its some wht related with REGISTRY, so, pl.s let me know, How to remove it. In the past, I have lost computers to malware, despite having anti-virus software installed. I recently bought a laptop, and plan to make it last for a while. It came installed with a trial version of Norton Internet Security which I’m currently using until the trial expires.
So, my questions are:
1) How trustworthy is Norton?
2) Is it recommended to run more than one anti-virus and/or spyware software at once?
3) Is there software that works better than others?

I just bought a new HP computer from Best buy and with the computer I got both Trend Micro Anti-virus and Spy Sweeper . When I start-up my computer sometimes it takes like 3 minutes for trend antivirus to load and sometimes it doesn’t even load at all and i have to restart my computer. When it loads everything works fine but the problem is it doesn’t load. I know both antiviruses are not that good but i don’t want to buy new antivirus software. Which antivirus should i uninstall?
So my friend was over the other day and he saw that I had norton. He said that everyone knew that norton was the worst anti virus software. However I just bought my computer a few months and i havent had any trouble with the computer speed while running scans.
