I’ve got a Dell desktop and a Toshiba laptop. My lap-tippity-top went and got a virus on it. I got all the visible viruses out using Webroot software but it keeps randomly shutting down. I went to Best Buy and talked to the Geek Squad guys and they said it was a virus loaded into the memory or something and that to get rid of it I would have to restore it to factory condition. The thing is, I don’t have any system disks or anything for my laptop, but I DO have them for my desktop.. Can I use those disks or do I have to go and buy disks FOR MY LAPTOP? If I DO have to go buy them, where do I go and about how much do they run for?

Toshiba laptops sometimes come with recovery partitions that don’t need disks. Try turning it off and then on again and watch the screen. If it says press F9 (or one of the other function keys) for Restore (or some similar message), do that while the message is on the screen and follow the prompts.

If it doesn’t have a recovery partition, you will need to buy the disks for your laptop – recovery disks for any other computer type, brand or model won’t work.

the factory cds are unique.i recomend goin out and buying a
new copy of the os(best buy sells it(xp or vista)))format the
HDD and then install the os.(by unique i mean only for that model,(it has drivers and controllers only for the specified computer))
