It is possible to remove an existing virus with new software. Yes, you can. but you must find newly database anti virus from your anti virus vendor. in your lucky day the virus may be detect and removed or you must find other OS to scanning your PC via network. as my experience, after install newly anti virus not make your PC running well bcoz some anti virus cannot clearly remove virus file.my suggestion, if virus cannot removed try to reinstall windows with new anti virus
