If I download limewire to an external hard drive and download all the songs and load it on the external hard drive, will it work or do I have to install limewire on my laptop. I just want a seperate hard drive so that if it gets virus infected, my laptop will be safe. Is this possible? Also tips and method using limewire to be virus free will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance !

My advice, stay away from limewire all together, your setting yourself up to potentially have catastrophic attacks on your pc.

No, you have to install the "software" on your operating system, and you can keep the "files" anywhere you want.

P2P Filesharing has always had problems with spyware, so you can’t really get the benefits without the drawbacks.

My advice is that if you are REALLY paranoid about this, you can get an old junk computer to download files, then virus scan them before copying to your MP3 player or main computer.

First off, installing software requires that items get installed into the registry. That registry can be scanned and LimeWire can easily be detected if you are concerned about this being run from a company laptop. No matter where you install it to, the viruses will still infect your system.

Only safe browsing/downloading and keeping a rigorous patch and av regime can keep you safe. Running a good Firewall that blocks incoming and outgoing connections is highly advisable. That way if you do get infected, you can try to stop it from leaving your system again and infecting other machines.

Yes. But before that, insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
