My computer keeps telling me there are threats and possible identity fraud trying to take place. I’m running a free AVG remover thing from download.com but I’m pretty dumb when it comes to this stuff. What do I need to do to get rid of anything bad? I’m getting income tax refund in a few days and am willing to buy something as long as it works!
Help!

First of all open your computer in safe mode with networking. Hit the f8 key as it is starting and select safe mode with networking.
Download malwarebytes antimalware, install it, update it and run it and hopefully it should solve your problem
An alternative program is superantispyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/
http://www.malwarebytes.org/
After this I would recommend avira free
http://www.free-av.com/
Backed up with online armor firewall

Avast!
!
Its free. Its legal. And its one of the best out there. Its also the easiest to use.
Dont forget to sign up for a free product key.
Buying antivirus is throwing your money away most of the time. There are free programs that will work as well or better. Avast! for viruses and Spybot Search and Destroy for malware is pretty much all you need.
Try Microsoft Security Essentials. It is a free program as well, but in my opinion, is much more efficient.
all kinds to buy, but first i would run updated malwarebytes and/or spybot. to clean it out. i use avast but nod32 would be a good choice also.
