My Toshiba laptop has a virus on it. It is going really slow and has problems doing many things. With that being said, I always start it in safe mode. In this mode, of course no sound, but everything works properly and goes a lot faster.
However, I do have a lot of songs, pictures, documents and other applications that I needed for school/work but no longer do. And I was going to get rid of a lot. I am also buying a new security system (anti-virus) for it. But I just wanna start all over and restart.
I do not have the CD that came with the laptop. I bought it off a good friend of mine and just got the laptop, charger, and some case for it. Do not have the restore CD if there is even one.
Like I said, it’ll start in regular mode, but it will go slow, and will no go online (virus). Just wanna start all over.
Anyone have any info on how to dump it and start over? What will I have to do? Do I need a CD or can I just do this on the computer.
Whatever I need to get, I’ll buy it and use it. I don’t wanna buy a bunch of stuff that I don’t need.
Also, when I dump it, I do not need any files, pics, documents, songs or anything like that. I could get rid of everything that I have that was not needed to use the computer. All the add-ons I have, they can go.
Any info would be awesome. Would like to do this tomorrow! Thanks.

well, what you want to do first is try to recover the computer.
you said that you did not get a recovery cd, but there may still be a way to recover it to its factory settings. that is only if you have a "recovery partition" on your computer. you can check this by going to "my computer" and checking to see if there is another partition other than just, "C:/ LOCAL DISC." is there is, then just restart the computer and then look for the options on the very first screen. it will tell you which F-key to hit if you want to do that process
if you dont have a recovery partition, then you have to buy an OS cd from the store or online. please find a tutorial on how to do this process tho, it can be complicated and hard. or get some help from a friend that is advance with computers
good luck
