i do not like norton@ all or mcafee. i use none of the above only adaware se. its free for private use. i run a full system scan every day! i have done this over 10 years and have a very awesome system and build many! just type in adaware se and download! good luck!!
Panda is the best right now. Get their free trial and check it out
Norton is the excellent for the actual protection, but an enormous memory hog. It is very inefficient. AVG is probably the best free tool out there, and as far as a frequently updated, secure scan, low memory usage retail item I like Trend Micro’s PC-Cillan
Norton is a resource hog. If your looking for a good Anti-virus, get Avira Personal Edition Classic. It’s the best free anti-virus out there. If you also need a firewall, Comodo Firewall is free and can rival the best commercial firewalls.
go to the link below
they have free antivirus which is really good
You can download a free antispyware/ virus/trojan version and remove them. Check out http://sumiram2006.googlepages.com/comba...
It has good downloads to detect and eliminate virus/trojans/spyware
Best wishes
Keep Norton until it expires. Then get active virus shield. It is the best free antivirus you will ever get.
Help keep computers safe from malicious spyware ,you should download firefox:

I used to have Norton Anti Virus too but it was too much of a headache coz it doesnt download updates daily n requires a subscription renewal which i always forget. I recently installed AVG its great since it updates every day & scans ur system every other for almost an hour without disrupting ur pace or programs & u dnt need to restart ur pc upon installing d updates. AVG is available without subscription renewal too.
I like Kaspersky. Check it out at

An important thing to keep in mind, regardless of which anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware and firewall you use
( http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/default.mspx ) is to keep it UPDATED, just as it is important to make sure you have all windows critical and security updates +
http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us
Note: The way I have mine set is to only notify me that updates are availiable, but to not download them automaticaly. Then I can check to be sure I get just the ones I want. I then click on "custom", and after the updates have been downloaded I look them over to see which ones I want, then disconnect from the net, disable firewall and anti-virus program, and then install the updates, and then re-enable the firewall and anti-virus programs before reconnecting to the net.
