I had a virus, and it took me two weeks to recover and remove it. So now i wanna buy an Anti-virus program from stores such as best buy and target that works very, very well. What do you suggest i should purchase?

The ones you pay money for generally don’t work better than the free ones. Some of them are actually known to mess up your computer or slow it down. The free programs have a lot more users to notify them of weaknesses or bugs. The purpose of the free programs is to ensure a better product for their commercial customers who pay.
Use Avast or AVG for free and run the resident protection of Spybot Search and Destroy at the same time. It would be VERY, VERY unlikely anything gets through.
I download and run all kinds of scary stuff… don’t use a firwewall… I’m not careful at all and nothing has gotten through this combination yet.
u do not need to buy, there is this software called avg 8.0,u can download it free, althought u can buy it if u wan
norton should be gd if u really wanna buy 1
avast!,or avg.u cant hav 2 antiviruses on at the same time tho.
theres this malware/spyware/adware remover called malwarebytes, and its not considered antivirus.
so use this for extra protection.
dont get norton or mcafee too.they suck.
I work in network and computer security (over 20 years in IT and 10 years in security) and I always recommend ESET Smart Security (aslo known as NOD32) from ESET – http://www.eset.com
Don’t just take my word on it as it has won tons of awards (see their site).
It is the best, easiest to use, includes a firewall and has about the smallest impact on your PC.
There are other free tools such as AVG but from my experience you get what you pay for.
I can’t tell you what to purchase, but if you go to http://www.download.com they have programs like AVG, Ad-Aware, and Spybot Search and Destroy. It is a legal site, and they are all free and work pretty good, I’ve removed several trojans, one other virus that cons you into buying all kinds of stuff, and countless tracking cookies by using these programs. Just an alternative if you don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars, and like I said they all work pretty good.
DON’T BUY! Here are some free ones i use. Panda Antivirus (stops viruses/ warns you about them). And Malwarebyte’s Antivirus (It can scan your computer and if it finds viruses or suspicious applications it can delete them for you).
there are many type of anti-virus you can use..
for a strong and effective anti-virus..
i am suggesting that you are using kaspersky, bitdefender or mcafee anti-virus…
from many type of anti-virus that i have use…
those are most effective for me..
for sure.. buy original anti-virus from store whether you download because nowadays anti-virus that download from the internet are open risk to malware and spyware…hope this will help you~~

My favorit PC-mag rated Norton 9 out of ten, F-Secure also got 9. AVG which is a free anti virus software got six. Download a trial from their web site before you buy.
Free anti virus software:
CyberDefender Free – You can continue working during scan
PC Tools Antivirus
Avira Antivir Personal – Protects you from Trojans, dialers, phishing, virus
AVG free – basic protection
Avast! Home Edition – very popular free antivirus software
Good luck and remember to update Windows to avoid worms and other security threats.
The best protection you can give your computer is with an internet security program. There are plenty and I tested several.
Second best for me is Bitdefender Total Security but the winner is ESET Smart Security. I took care of problems other programs missed.
I have now ESET portectiong my computer together with 2 other programs as extra proteection
Threatfire is an anti virus, that can be installed next to any other anti virus program on the same computer
http://www.threatfire.com/
This is a very good program, that completely runs in the background

I think iv got what you need. see, i nearly tried every antivirus in the market and have found that ESET Nod 32 v.3 antivirus is the best.
