I have run Symantec and Malware software programs with very little effectiveness.My computer freezes and is extremely slow and sometimes the words are missing from my screen.
I can only find Anti virus and spyware only through download are there any on CD-ROM available for free ?
I need it on CD because i am experiencing internet connection problems due to a virus so I can’t download even though I paid for a subscription
Would someone tell me what the best free virus protection that they have ever used because i have just bought a new laptop and would like it protected:) thanks
Okay so I have AOL’s complimentary Safety and Security Center that contains anti-Virus and Spyware protection, but it refuses to update it’s definitions. We are still paying members of AOL, like I’m using AOL to connect to the Internet now, so idk what the problem is. But, the program itself has a yellow flag saying that both my virus and spyware definitions are out of date, and to update them, but when I click "Update Definitions" It just says that the definitions are updated, but they’re not!! And my Window’s keeps saying that it’s out of date also and to get new stuff.
So is there any way that I can manually make the definitions update or something? Or do I have to get new protection and buy something from Best Buy?
I tryed Webroot Spyware and I didn’t like it, it locked up on my computer for some reason.
So what should I do to fix my AOL one, and if it’s unfixable what should I use? What do you guys use/reccomend?
If my computer gets a virus without antivirus, can i buy onr while the virus is there?? Will it get rid of?

so i got norton the one my laptop came with but it said it expired
so i cant use anything on my laptop cuz its infected
can i buy an anti virus and install it???
will it still kill the virus even though it was installed after i got the antivirus
im kind of nervous too because everytime i open a file it doesnt open
and i think it will do the same to my antivirus i will install
any cheap ones u guys no of bcuz im just a kid
and i dont want my parents to get mad cuz they will be rlly pissed off

dont even say AVG that is not detecting it, niether is my windows Defender or zonealarm idk what to do. i had twister and that rocked but it expired. it looks like im goina have to just pay up the money to buy it b/c nothing else works

This is my last resort before possibly having to visit the computer repair person tomorrow. I have downloaded some programs but they will not let me delete it unless I have a registered CD key.
Any useful shareware/freeware you know of that is helpful to remove those listed above?
What is the best anti-virus software? Cause i just bought a new laptop and the free trial of norton anti-virus was over and i am planning to use a new and good software. (Not norton anti-virus because it makes my com so slow when trying to shut down). I would like a software that do not need to pay monthly fee or if possible a very good free anti-virus software.
where can i download free virus removal software for windows vista. my comp. says it has a virus but every time i try to find a free version i have to end up uninstalling it because i have to pay for it to actually get rid of them. please helpp!! i need something that works and is absolutely free! thankks.
When I used a program to read how much of my 495 mb sdram is currently being used by the programs i have running in the background of my windows xp.
It showed that about 80% of my ram is currently being occupied by programs running in the background. Is this too much?
My computer is "stucky, not smooth" lately. I’ve checked with spybot and ad-aware there’s no spyware on my laptop. Also ran anti-virus and there’s no virus. I’ve cleaned my harddrive and registry with CCleaner and Ashampoo win optimizer. Lately, happened couple of days, i couldn’t even use my web browers[IE & firefox] to visit any websites! though i know i am connected online with my isp.
Could the 80% ram usage be the source of the problem? Also harddisk is 56Gb in total and now only about 6 gb freespace left. I’m running on Intel M processor 1.6 GHz. win XP sp3. Had the laptop for 6 years.
[side note: system went 'dead froze' several times [about 20? ] over the course of my 6 years usage. whenever that happens i just had to unplugged the power chord to turn off system abruptly without going thru proper ‘ turn off ‘ button in windows. Also had a few very hot summers so laptop couldn’t stand the heat so it auto ‘turned off’ by itself. though now bought the laptop fan cooler. Not sure if these conditions will damage the physical hardware of the system, but i hope it doesn’t…..]
What are your suggestions?

my laptop is infected with a virus/spyware called microsoft xp fraud where it pretends to be an anitivirus software but it really isnt. it changed my desktop to black and everytime i use the internet, all the ads say that i have a virus and i need to buy anitvirus software. i used spybot, avg, and superantispyware but it couldnt remove it completely. i still have it and now i cant even access the start menu or use the internet. is it too late, or is there anything i could do to fix it? my friend talked about using a different computer and using the wireless network to scan the computer with a different computer. is that possible? any suggestions appreciated!
Hi, I’m buying a laptop. I have two virus protection programs on my computer, and I wanted to know if it’s possible to transfer one to the other computer using bonjour or something so I dont have to buy another. I have mcafee and malwarebyte’s
My AVG 8.5 software shortcut says "this item has been changed or removed" and the item is on my programs list but it says it may have been uninstalled! Is there anyway to get my AVG back without buying a new subscription?

I desperately need a good virus remover. I think my computer has a virus and my McAfee (It’s outdated sadly) won’t pick it up. I tried my spy-bot search and destroy, it came up with nothing, too. But I know for sure I have adware. Help! How can I get rid of this? Please, someone help!
i bought my laptop 6 mths ago from new, i stupidly used it on net without anti virus software now istalled norton and it says i have this trojan, i cannot connect to net wirelessly now and system restore won’t work, i don’t have a clue bout pc’s so what do i do? can i re-install windows to resolve everything?
