i just bought a new Toshiba laptop…my old laptop i bought used had Avast already on it….i never had any problems getting rid of a virus with it by going through the "safe" mode….so should i pay for Norton or download Avast for free?

ok so my laptop is verrrrrry slow and i know there has to be a virus as i have tried everything else to speed it up, but even when i scan with panda it only detects minor spyware etc no actual viruses i.e trojans etc anybody help?

I want to buy my 7 year old son a cheap laptop, enough for him to use to surf the web, I found a lap top w/ Intel Atom 270 Processor. Do I still need to purchase an anti-virus? and should 512 mb be good enough for him to surf the web. I know nothing about computers!

I would be greatly appreciate it if some one can help.

Im currently siffing through some Anti virus protections, but they all seem the same, but the prices differ, i have a basic computer, so im only interested in buying a virus and spyware protector/remover, does anyone have any idea which one is suited, and do the cheaper versions do a good job, which one should i buy i have my eye on Mcfee, is this a good choice.

I need to buy anti virus software to protect my computer. Which is the best anti virus software out there? I was thinking mcafee or norton? I heard that norton creates problems with the workings of a computer. Please help.

i really want to know cuzz my other computer have a virus and i cant remove then i ask circuit city how much they fixed it for they said .99 so can someone give me the software for it

I just got a new laptop and it has vista home premium on it and i want to keep it new and virus free for a long time. I have a buget of 30dollars.

It would be nice not to have to buy another Anti-Virus for my new laptop. I got a 2 year subscription for my PC and they say you can use them for 3 computers. Well, what if one is a different operating system? Shouldn’t I still be entitled to a free version for my Mac…technically?

I have just recently started getting a million pop ups and I ran windows live one care that located a "gadcom" file…related to trojan virus. OC has located and supposedly removed the same files several times. This virus is making babies!!! What is a good program to remove this and make it stop coming back?

I’m pretty positive I just got a virus or spyware. My net goes real slow, I keep getting popups, and somehow it changes my google searches. I see in m task manager a ew weird things runing, like chkntfs.exe, and v6.exe. What is a good FREE spyware removal? Last time I used what was supposed to be a good free one, it deleted a system file so I’m wary. And I can’t search google because this thing won’t let me. Help please!!
I’m pretty sure it was Adaware SE that ruined my PC last time. Can someone recommend programs (free) that they have used before which have worked well?

Please, this is already driving me crazy…

I had installed PC tools anti-virus before and I already uninstalled it aready before using the add/remove program but it keeps saying that still the program is running. Now, I want to install AVG antivrus but it says another anti-virus or security product is currently installed. Please help me… I already tried CCleaner, Revo Unistaller, Your Uninstaller but still its there…..

What’s a better way to start from scratch on an old used laptop? Should I pay a repair tech. to wipe out my system or should I buy a new hard drive? We suspect the drive is going bad. I just want a completely empty computer so that I can install brand new windows and virus protection. It’s a Latitude CPi.

I have tried a few different antivirus and antispyware programs, and nothing works. How do I wipe the hard drive, or restore to preinfection status?

I just bought a new laptop and it came pre loaded with norton security demo version and windows vista, a couple days later, my computer started acting really funny and then said my computer said windows defender has detected spyware , do i want to clean my system, i said no in case it was the virus or spyware trying to infect my system so i tried to run scan via an online scanner from mcafee, it downloaded the software but then told it encountered an error and cant carry on, the same thing happened on other anti virus sites so i’m now sure i have a virus on my computer and was wondering if i unistall norton security as its only a trial version and bought a anti virus program will it fix it or not

for how many dollars/euros/rupees/yens/ any other currency can i buy norton antivirus CD? it will be better if you state the money in dollars. i have virus in my PC and no other software tracks it other than norton. so i wanna buy that. i live in india. we have the rupee system. if you know for how many rupees can we buy it will be much better. = 40 rupees. please tell for what amount can i buy norton antivirus software CD.

The used laptop I bought has an expired Norton subscription that needs to be renewed, but I don’t want to spend the money if AVG free will give me the same protection.

I’m wondering if they simply install everyday antivirus software, scan, then remove them, or if they have specific software designed for this (ie software targeted at technicians).

If so, I’d like to know the name of the software if possible! :)

I already know that bestbuy/geeksquad has their own software that runs a bunch of free antivirus/spyware apps, I’m wondering about some of the other retailers, or the average computer shops.

I am not sure if I have a virus but every thing has been very slow the last three days.

i am frequent internet user, now i am using AVG 8 free anti virus. instead of this i can use any other best anti virus? which is top 10 anti virus? there is any special anti virus for Laptop?

what is the best anti-virus software should I use and what is the best anti-spyware software that i can use?both softwares must be free, can remove spyware and viruses and the is not out-dated

I don’t even mind the cost, as long as I know that my computer will be running faster, and that it can get rid/detect some of the more difficult intruders.
What’s your take on it?
