I see a lot of PC repair shops offering "Virus Removal" as one of their specialties. What do they do that’s different than merely running the latest anti-virus software?

Hi. After running a series of free virus/malware scan software, I get an alert on my PC, saying that the computer doesn’t detect any anti virus software, making me think I have deleted the installed software we already had by accident (we have a firewall and antivirus as part of a suite). How can I tell if antivirus is still there and working properly?

My avg antivirus indicates a virus in the flash drive.,but it does not remove it.Pl suggest a method to remove it.If it can be done by formating,how to do formating
I honestly don’t know which I downloaded, whether it was a spyware, virus or malware. But I’v been running anti-virus scans, anti-spyware scans, and malware scans and I have deleted over 100 items. How can I know that I have got rid of everything for good? I ran the scans again and so far nothing. But I want to make sure.
One of my computers have a virus its windows xp I can not reinstall windows because i do not have the disk it has the floppy I also have windows vista both computers have cd’s. I have pics on my other computer that i don’t want to lose (the one with the virus) So is it possible to burn a virus removal cd on one computer to clean the other one if so how is it done?

I am speaking to you guys from my fathers computer, because unfortunately my computer is infested with a nasty trojan and is laggy as hell. I’ve tried downloading many free virus and spyware protectors such as, Spyware Doctor, but they have little to no effect. If anyone could tell me how I could delete this trojan, for free it would be a great gift to me.

We have a virus program but it usually doesn’t detect anything but I’m pretty sure there’s something there.
When I scanned it with Norton Anti-virus it said that it has a virus and needs to reboot the computer to finalize the deletion of the virus. So I reboot my computer with the flash drive still connected to it but it gets stuck at the starting screen. So I take it off and turn on my computer and re-connect the flash drive the virus is still there. What can I do to remove it? I have important school work on it.

There is a virus and spyware removal software that is available for free download. It was on my computer but was accidentally deleted and it had a bug that was yellow and black for a symbol in the bottom right corner of a computer. If anyone has any info on it, it will be deeply appreciated.

My computer is about 6 years old, everytime I try using a free virus removal website, my computer will say internet unable to download.
I tried downloading avg and it found the virus.
The problem is, I left it scanning just in case there were more files and then my computer restarted for those automatic updates. Then when i tried scanning again, the trojan wasnt found. If the virus can hide like that, how can i remove it without using a long manual way, or paying for removal?
